Default Is it possible to safely edit the unit table yet?

One of the patches last year for FOTS broke our ability to edit the unit table. We can still technically do it but the result is the horrible sound glitch where sound files get mixed up, which causes archers to sound like cannons and stuff. I've been trying to edit the upkeep of Hattori units to bring them down to the levels of the rest of the clans.

There have been multiple proposed fixes, all of which I've tried. The Darthmod fix works pretty well and eliminates the sound for my units, but AI archer units still have it and all bow ashigaru garrison units have it. I've tried Sinfonia Semplice and got it working but it doesn't fix the problem. Does anyone know if there's a way around it yet? It's been a long while and CA has yet to respond to the problem and I'd really prefer for it to not become a permanent thing we have to deal with if we edit the units table.

I am using the Assembly Kit for modding and didn't notice any sound bugs so far. The PFM is good for creating modpacks, but its editor can't recognize certain table columns which can lead to problems and crashes. Therefore, if you want to mod units, use the official Assembly Kit. It is safer and more comfortable that way.
