    Default bought my parts, build tonight

    I just bought the following

    * Athlon 64X2 dual core processor 4600
    * MSI Mobo(K8N Neo4-FX) Socket 939 800MHz HyperTransport
    * Kamariki 450W power supply
    * Elsa GeForce 7600GT

    To add to my other components

    * 1.5 gig DDR400
    * Maxtor Diamond Max 10 SATA 150 (250 GB HDD)
    * Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 Value Digital Audio 24-bit Sound, Advanced HD

    How will it RTW run compared to my system that just died (slower? same? faster?)
    * Intel Pentium 4, 3.40E GHz, 1MB L-2cache, 800 Mhz FSB, PGA-478pkg
    * Radeon 9600xt 128mb Gigabyte GV-R96X128D
    * Gigabyte P4 Titan GA, Intel 865PE AGP Chipset 8IPE1000 PRO2 F6

    you can see a change in Oblivion for example, but not in RTW, with your previous pc I imagine you run RTW with maximum settings & huge unit right?

    Yes excuse me, Oblivion is a game that require very high pc specs look at: http://www.elderscrolls.com/games/oblivion_overview.htm

    That is very strange! my current comp is:

    AMD Athlon XP 1800+
    756 MB DDR 333Mhz RAM
    2 IDE HD
    ATI Radeon 5550 256 MB

    and RTW runs choppy with maximum settings, while with medium/high it works very fine, but monday arrives my new comp:

    AMD ATHLON 64 3200+ Socket AM2
    2x 512MB DDR2 667 PC 5300
    2 SATA2 HD
    ASUS GeFORCE 7300GS PCI-EXPRESS 256M

    Similar to mine, but with better RAM and newer socket. Sweet!
    I should have went with the better board, too, but I figured I dont want to even open my case for another five years. Then my stuff should be so worn out I'll just buy every thing anew.

    My Athlon 3000+ can handle Oblivion just fine.

    What you need is a good graphics card...or the "Oldblivion" mod that drastically reduces graphics requirements.

    *Spits beer on keyboard in astonishment just like the movies.*

    How is that possible? Have you Oced? As for a good GPU, you system is only as fast as your slowest part, and a 3000+ is pretty damned slow, thats what I have and it struggles with RTW, I wouldnt even think about inflicting such punishment on it like oblivion for example.

    It should run better, but I do not know about how much.
    I would say that it would run a lot better.

    AMD Athlon XP 1800+
    756 MB DDR 333Mhz RAM
    2 IDE HD
    ATI Radeon 5550 256 MB
    That machine has more RAM than what I currently have
    Under the patronage of Rhah and brother of eventhorizen.

    Erik think that with this pc:

    AMD Athlon XP 1800+
    756 MB DDR 333Mhz RAM
    2 IDE HD
    ATI Radeon 5550 256 MB

    I run&finished Oblivion in 640*480 plus ini tweak!!!! And without Oldblivion... In practice a pixel experience!!!

    My parts are about to be posted, cost me £1,015(without a processor, monitor, keyboard and mouse)this from the cheapest internet sources I could find. And I hav'n't brought the 7.1 Speakers yet@ £235 because I am now skint for awhile, but feel free to make donations!

    Whats with the shortages in RAM at the moment DDR(don't know about DDR2)? Overclockers had loads of types 2-3 weeks ago, Komplett were out as well. I ended up buying Corsair 2GB XMS3500LL Pro TwinX @£211. This is the stuff with the not wanted by me, Leds that light up. 2-3 weeks ago, I could get the stuff without the leds (but not quite so good heat sinks)for £165.

    Your new parts are pretty good. You should notice a difference in RTW. At least your vid card is a significant upgrade!

    It will be a lot better, your 7600GT video card should run RTW well.

    As for all the people who don't know why their pc can't run RTW at max, its because max setting disables sprites, it will take a hell of a pc to render 8000+ men on screen at the same time!

    Mine bogs down to 9fps (still playable) with about 8000, so that is where I am at with max settings (and disabling sprites) so I know I can go further without sacrificing much in graphics. Besides running at max does not mean bigger numbers, just more eye candy and RTW have plenty of eye candy options to tone down. Maybe I will make a chart with the different options to show what causes what to bog down systems, just to shut people up because "max settings is the best" when it is in fact not.

    Alright, I am closing the window, as I will no longer be jumping out!

    You know full well how it will run. My time doesn't take kindly to being wasted :-)
