Default What do you call your armies?

I´m just curious what people name their legions or armies. In my roman campaign I have Legio I Invictus, Legio II Secundo Filios and Legio III Calvariam Raptoribus...these are the main legions. In my Spartan game I have The Sons of Sparta, Spears of Hades and The Heirs of Herakles

So what do you call yours?

In my newly restarted Rome Campaign, I have Legio I Italia and Legio II Magna Graecia. I name my Legions after whatever they will be garrisoning while not on campaign.

I personally have a great love for the Byzantine military of the 7th to 11th centuries, Thus for me when playing as the Greeks or successor states, my active field Armies are the Tagmatas- Tagmata Scholai, Tagmata Arithmos, Tagmata Hikariatio and Tagmata Hetaireia, with whatever army my faction leader/heir commands being the Scholae Palantine (for old times sake). Meanwhile the armies i use for Garrison/rebel stomp/border regions in a defensive nature are classed at Thema's, with whatever city they were originally founded from in the name, so Thema Antiocheia for Antioch etc .

My first and primary Spartan army is dubbed "The Porcupine". Aside from the general and a couple peltasts it is composed exclusively of 3/3/3 spartan pikemen which flat out obliterates anything the pathetic AI can put up against it. While The Porcupine is out west picking off the remains of the Roman empire, I've got "Ares' Dread" conquering the east. I haven't really bothered renaming any other armies aside from The Porcupine as they mainly just sit in cities preventing the townsfolk from revolting. If the campaign had a reasonable pace which actually allowed me to use more than a couple armies at a time I'd probably name them after various spiky things, eg. Cactus, Manticore, Hedgehog.

Named my legions after the regions/country's they stationed at. Legio I Italica, Legio II Gallica, Legio III Germanica, Legio IV Africa and so on.

My main Stack, the Ghosts of Sparta (yeah yeah I know), Heirs of Leonidas (small but elite guarding and reinforcement army), Shields of the Hellas (guarding Greece to the North) and The Returned (which consists of Veteran Hoplites from the Ghosts of Sparta replaced by Pikemen, now guarding the homeland). Ill soon launch my first fleet, possible names are Arms of Typhon, Points of the Trident, Kraken of Hades etc.

Maybe Ill realise my plans to make a joke fleet of slave archers on transport ships that use flaming arrows and ramming attacks to force horrendous casualties on superior enemy fleets despite being dirt cheap and name them The Burning Damned.

I always try and have the word buttock in there, for example Buttockus Linius II, Buttock Hispania, Britannia Buttock III. I wish it could be otherwise.

In my Roman Campaign I'm starting to get creative.

    "Legio I -Children of Romulus"
"Legio II - Sons of Mars"
"Legio III - Defenders of Roma"
"Legio IV - Eyes of Neptune"

Click on unit detail and the name should be there. It's clickable and you are able to rename it.

As for names, I usually just leave it at the default that pops up.

Just click on the name in the Army menu, and then you can delete the name that' s already present with the delete key or backspace key and then enter your own.

In my Roman campaign I'm quite happy with the names my legions have already been assigned. It's not particularly accurate, as many mid-Republican legions were numbered not named. When I'll get round to playing the Celtic factions I'm going to give them names though, possibly after Celtic gods such as Belenus, Toutatis, Taranis etc.

The Black Legion for Rome; The Shield Brothers, The Royal Army, The Serpant's Head, The Defenders of the Republic, and others for Macedon.
This is seriously my favorite new feature. I just wish there were more flag symbol thingys, and maybe more customization to maybe the color of your general's unit, or something, IDK.

My first play through I had the original names left on. The second time I got bored and named them all after classic rock bands. AC/DC, CCR, Styx, Boston, etc.

I'm playing Parthia at this moment and I basically just use the default funny name that CA has given. Was actually tempted to rename the first army to Legio I Parthica, second army Legio II Parthica and so on and hope than in turn 200+ some Roman legion with the same name will venture east and we can have 'civil' war of the 'Parthian' legions.
