    Default XP64 Edition

Is this worth it? As the tech people here probably already know my system, ill repeat my specs if asked. But what do you guys think of this os? I have 3 Xp os, home, pro, and 64. Which you think i should use and why? I was thinking of putting in 64, but ill wait until i read what you guys have to say. Thanks. -Leon

No - don't waste your time with it. I can almost guarantee no speed increase on anything you run. From the gaming benchmarks I've seen performance is actually worse. This is not because 64-bit is bad or doesn't allow for speed increase, it's just that very very few programs can actually take advantage of the benefits the 64-bit architecture provides. As cool as 64-bit sounds, the technology to harness it's power just isn't there. All you can expect at the moment is trouble installing certain applications. I used to use the 32-bit version of Ubuntu, now I use 64-bit, and there was no speed increase. The only difference is now it is much harder to get some applications to work.

Also, architecture aside, I've heard that XP64 is pretty buggy and that even some Microsoft applications don't work on it. As I've never used it I can't confirm this but it seemed to be a very common complaint when it was released.

Well, first of all, very little software is actually programed for it, including drivers. If that is not enough to scare you, I don't know what will.

Yea, I just switched back to 32bit from 64, and I can tell you that it's a pain in the ass. You have to check compatibility for EVERYTHING! And there is 0% speed increase. Actually, the performance might even decrease a little, since the 64bit uses so much memory. (Almost twice as much as the 32bit one)
