Hiya - Long poem short; ancient P4 4ghz > i7 etc etc for most games in the TW series.

cause R2 is a big buggy unoptimized untested mess. in a few weeks/months they´ll probably have fixed most performance issues

turn AA off (you can turn it on by nvidia panel which handles better), edit .exe with cff explorer to use more than 2gb ram, turn vegatation and grass lower and last and not least defrag your computer once a week i have toshiba satellite a660m, where i have i7 720qm, 4gb ram and geforce 330 gt - it runs Rome 2 on medium smoothly (only on battle where are more than 3-4k troops i have lag) and roma surrectum perfectly (with 7-8k troopers in battle without lag)

rtw is programmed for windows 98: it reads only 1 core: so your whopping 3,8 ghz 4 core is a 3,4 ghz 1 core

A super fancy computer will get you no more added performance running RS2 than my $350 laptop from walmart.

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag." -- Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC
