How do I find a suitable wife?

I only have a faction king and a heir. Ingame i have no luck finding any ally princess( only enemy princess). the suitable wife scroll for heir or king dosnt show up. Do i have to do something like place my heir in city to find chicks? also i want to maintain the bloodline. In another forum i heard that "as long as i have unmarried female members , you will never get any marriage proposal for your male member?" is this true? thanks

I don't know how many diplomats you have running around but I like to have alot so I can spot those ladies.I'm not sure about the unmarried females thing, but it rings a bell...

I usually just use toggle_fow since the Ai dosent surprise anyone anyway.

hehe, I even play SS 6.4 with watchtowers always enabled so I dont really build many myself, but it is still not enough.

IIRC, to get a wife any FM must be in a city (or is it only needed to have sons?). Don't take my word for it, though.

hi, i found out that you need to move your heir/emperor on the map without troops with them, to find a suitable wife. for example, i had placed my emperor in my capital city rome because i didnt want him to die and also he was the last bloodline of my empire. after 20 turns no luck, so i moved him from rome to venice then suddenly a suitable was presented with just a turn. also when i was moving my other generals without troops on the map and was able to find a wife. well some of them did, but i think there is a higher chance of finding a wife this way? anyway this worked for me. chers

The number of Family members(that includes adopted FM's, and possibly wifes too) you can have is tied to the # of provinces you have, did some of your generals all die at the same time just before you got the wife for your king?

no i didnt notice that, because i like to fight with my general and most of them die at the battle field
