Bring back avatar conquest

I know its a bit late (i'm hoping this cry will be answered with a DLC i can buy) but I would really like avatar conquest to be brought back as an OPTIONAL game mode.
The idea was scrapped because people who sucked at S2 complained that other players beat them because of the unlocked units, a totally garbage claim since.
1: AC was not mandatory, there was always custom battle for S2.
2: Units could be unlocked in battle list where you could refuse to play against high level players
3: rank =/= victory, i have many times defeated rank 10 players with my rank 3 S2 avatar, my rank 1 FOTS avatar, and have been beaten by low rank players with my rank 10 S2 and my rank 10 FOTS.

Since it was not in the Original title i think it would be fair that CA makes it a DLC that people who like AC can buy and people who hate it because they don't like the existance of something they are not forced to play can stop complaining and trolling every time it is mentioned.

I would never play that garbage. That's one of the reasons I didn't play Shogun 2 MP much. I don't care if they release it as an optional DLC or whatever, which I'm sure they won't. Not many people would buy it and it wouldn't be easy to do.

Why not play the S2 MP? you did not have to play the avatar conquest mode, custom battle just like so many people seem to want has always been available.
This is what i do not understand, people say "no one liked avatar conquest" but if that is so, why does NO ONE in the S2 MP play custom battle? if i go on the battle list i'll see 10 AC games and maybe 1 custom battle, if everyone likes custom battle so much, or if AC is so bad why is custom battle so unpopular on S2?
On Rome 2 we have no option, just boring custom battle with nothing to be gained by winning, i ask you this, would you fight a battle in a single player campaign if there was nothing to be gained by winning?

I actually really enjoyed the avatar conquest in Shogun 2. Rome 2's multiplayer is dull and disappointing..

The only reason why i bought this game is because i thought it has avatar conquest, it is a real disapointment, think about it.

Currently, the replay value of Rome 2 is extremely low.

will you still play multiplayer without avatar mode? if so how many battles are you going to play? it will just get too boring after awhile.

I would love to see Avatar conquest back. it was 95% of my shogun 2 multiplayer experience. loved it. added a hell of alot of replay value and loved cutomizing the look of my General and seeing him on the battlefield. was looking forward to a customized barbarian warlord

I was hoping for the AC as well but not to be. For those who didn't like please don't speak for the rest of us who do. I have been putting this everywhere I could. If something is not broke don't fix it. Having put in over 1800 hrs and 4000 battles in the Avatar Campaign and now having played Rome II, I find the format for multiplayer battles is better in Shogun II. To be more specific what I mean about format are things like unit stats appearing when you mouse over them. -I like the fact that other players can't see your win lose record and leave before the battle even starts, that's great, thanks. -I like the animations very historical, great job. -I like how you can change the size of the unit banners in game, very nice and other stuff like the missile trails. -I like the way you can minimize different windows on the battle screen and bring them up again. -I like the los and the way it works. -I like the about turn ability. -I like unique characteristic of some units, ie heat and cold resistant. The following is a list I compiled of things I don't like in no particular order. No ladder for ship battles. No guard mode. No winter battles. No rewind button on replays. Romans too strong. Animation for Romans throwing pila nfg, you had it down pat in the original Rome. It's almost like they don't even stop to throw it. I certainly hope when the Romans from the Justinian era come out the animations for throwing the Plumbata are correct. (UNDERHAND). Please don't disappoint on that issue. Sparta sitting on the fence for now. Unit cards I find hard to interpret in the heat of battle, the General is hard to find. As mentioned in other threads on this same subject make them so we know what we are looking at. Give two options with a check mark one for the ones you want us to use and one for the more traditional. Too many bells and whistles i.e every time you activate a special ability, fire works go off(all that glitter above the unit. No need for it! Reminds me of some childrens games, it has to go or at the very least toggle the damn thing off. It's effect totally takes away from the historical accuracy of the unit animations. Too many special abilities. The only unit that should have more then two is the General unit. Missile units need adjusting, not enough damage for the slingers (elite slingers). The 20 minute timer is a step back. I find people camping on the hills whit Sparta and artillery. Makes the game very boring waiting for the 20 min timer to finish just to get a draw. Bring back the dojo's! Finally no pdf doc that we can download and read while sitting on the thrown. I have mentioned this before. I can't find the information I am looking for in the game encyclopedia in reference to special abilities. I am sure it's there I just don't have that kind of time to track it down. There is a lot of information that could be put in there that would answer a lot of questions. Example, health in game terms? You should of at least beta tested the multiplayer and we would not be getting half the issues we are getting now.

I'll admit this is one of my only real concerns with Rome 2. With Avatar Conquest gone, there just really isn't any reason to play multiplayer. What's the point in a bunch of pointless and unrewarded 'custom' battles? None at all. It feels like Shogun 2 was the first attempt to 'modernize' multiplayer for Total War, and then for Rome 2 they just took a step back. There's still multiplayer campaigns at least, so that's something.

No particular reason, just not into that sort of gameplay.
And I didn't mean it absolutely shouldn't come back, just that it's not something I would fight for, to come back
And if it does comes back then that will be a plus for those who do like it

Personally I do not want it, but why not who cares anyway. Take it if you want as long as I can play regular multiplayer, I really didn't like it though.

Avatar conquest was awesome , it woul dhave been cool tohave ur general and personalize it as u like by conquering regions .
Also the retainers in RTW seem realy cloned all the same and with similar bonuses, totally boring , while instead each one of the ones in STWII were unique and interesting , actually collectionable ...

RTW was just rushed that's why they didn't even think about placing it ...

Changing the appearance and unit type of your general is awesome,retainers were interesting and give another tactical choice but ruined by drop rate and certain lucky few having the best and advantage.If they have all the retainers to everyone? Fine but apart from this i miss nothing about avatar mode i dislike it intensely for the cheating and general win at all costs (alt+f4) mentality it triggered in people.I much prefer classic with what i mentioned above.I would not be above letting people maybe get one or two special dlc units to use with the rest of the army but it must be balanced and accurate.You cannot for example be giving romans DLC cavalry when it would ruin the weakness of the faction.The only bloody weakness of thier army i might add!

Apart from this im glad the damm thing is firmly dead.Remove avatar from Shogun II and imagine it had the slow battles of Medieval II.You have yourself THE best looking,performing and epic Totalwar game to date imho.

but in response to the actual question: no...mainly because you would be limited to one faction because you would need to make an avatar that corresponds to a specific faction.

I can see it now, two TW games from now we'll all be looking back at "Perfect and awesome Rome 2" and telling CA that they should make their game more like Rome 2

My mind was made all alone, I loved the AC. Problem is the majority of the people who liked it as well chose to sit on there hands and do nothing to promote it. So we are stuck with the crap that's called Rome II.
