So CA introduced this new banner system for Rome 2 that allows you to pick a custom emblem that goes on top of you banner on the campaign map and over the top of your generals banner on the battle map. Over all it is a pretty cool concept and I like it, but this feature is riddled with bugs and needs to be addressed. Here are some of the issues I have run into in my 40 hours of play:
Parthian and Eastern Floating banners
The Eastern culture campaign map banner is broken - the emblems appear to be floating in the air because the banner model is missing the piece that connects the banner to the emblem. This absolutely looks ridiculous and I hope this is fixed asap because these stupid floating banners can be seen everywhere!

Emblem selection and variety is broken
Not all of the banner emblem options show up when selecting an emblem, this feature appears to break/get worse as the campaign goes on and can even cause a CTD that is repeatable late game.
In this short vid I only have 2 options to choose from!
In this image I have 0 options to choose from.

Barbarian generals banners emblems not matching
The barbarian general's battle map banner emblem is not matching the campaign map one on most occasions.
Boar emblem on every regular barbarian unit's banner
Please remove the boar emblems off of the regulars non-general barbarian units battle map banners, it would look way better and not be as confusing in multi-player. Please keep it to the generals only it looks like crap the way it is plus it makes them easier to find. Besides only the generals of the other cultures only get them.
Nomad factions using Celtic emblems
If you are going to sell a DLC pack for the Nomad factions please fix this and add nomad emblems. Maybe something like this

I really like this feature but I don't want this to be another unresolved missing Oda Uma-jirushi banner issue from Shogun 2.
I have experienced the inablity to select most banners too, which then disappeared once I went through the row a few times. (browsing back and forth, suddenly more appear as options.) I have never been unable to select one like in your screenie.. that is indeed a, in this situation, rather serious bug.. I hope they fix this soon!
Yeah hopefully CA can get this fixed the pic that should no options actually caused the game to crash when I clicked on it. However it is the Eastern banners that is bothering me the most, I mean you spend a lot of time on the campaign map it just looks sloppy to see the floating Eastern banners everywhere. I think I will play the Iceni or one of the other barbarian factions so I can avoid them until CA can patch this.
I had an emblem crash, and like my OCD went fully mental! I had a sweet-looking wolf, for my oldest and first Roman army; the crescent and circle for my second (to denote its tribal roots); then I made a third army for the eagle, and when I made my fourth, all the emblems went "bagark"!!
I get so many tears, and feel well butt-hurt by this game so far,.. but I'm like a hobo with a sore tooth - I can't leave it alone! So purdee!
I am really impressed with the emblem feature - it's a nice, tidy addition, and allows a visual ID of an army at a glance, but I really wish it were stable. I r saddened.
As an aside, the whole army/fleet history and founding list is such a cool idea, I just wish they applied - or were allowed time to apply - the same thinking to a "present" senate, the diplomacy, senate offices/promotion titles, and a host of other things, too. Be a good idea if they showed this consistency... And some accuracy - like there were two consuls, and an imperator for states of emergency - be a cool thing to do... Oh , being invaded - who's gonna be imperator? You know, stuff like the emblems, little things that allow a bit of immersion, that not only make the camp map game-play/fiddling (if you want to) that not only looks cool, but is interesting as well... instead of just hitting "end turn" all the time, and wondering whether it would have been better to throw nephew from the Tarpeian Rock,..
If the emblem system worked, this would be an excellent advance worth adding as a persistent feature for Toto Wah, for players to personalise their armies/fleet, but mainly so that one can recognise them instantly on the campaign map, and to be probably reminded with which army they fight in battle, you know - oh, which guy is this? Did I wanna waste him, is he a pussy in need of an experience? or can he charge on in and get splatty with no probs? Battles can come and go pretty fast, so it's good to know which general you're using, instead of fighting five battles and going "whoops" - reload game and have to fight five battles again.
Then again they could just show the bugger's name in battle mode. Right? Would that not rock? I know I'd save time and wonder...
And, as a further aside, I do really wish, wish, wish that CA would expand their ideas that players love, features like the senate for instance, and not remove or dilute them.
Love the emblem idea. I so hope it gets a fix, and that they add more of them too. Shogun had what seemed to be hundreds of them, I really liked the idea then, and it's nice to see it again, after all this time.
Shogun Toto Wah, for all the time that has passed, really was truly a master-piece of a game. Beauty, simplicity and history, the age of Shengoku, with a tonne of chop-chop and room for Sun Tzu!!
