Same here, got an overclocked Intel i5-4670k Haswell with an ASUS Z87A board, but the DRA option is greyed out. Maybe it's like DX11 was in Shogun 2, where they make it available through a patch a while after release.
Same here. i5 4670K and the option is grey for me.
Maybe its for the integrated graphics and you have a dedicated video card?
try directly in the preferences.script.txt
open explorer head to:
%appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Rome2\scripts
alter these settings to this values
gfx_alpha_blend 2; # gfx_alpha_blend <int>, Set the alpha blending quality, 0 - alpha test, 1 - standard OIT, 2 - Intel accelerated AOIT #
gfx_direct_resource_access true; # gfx_direct_resource_access <bool>, Enable Direct Resource Access #
please feedback.
Intel says it is for the onboard Iris onboard GPU (HD4600) only so not for everyone. However I rated the specs, and even though they are cool for a iGPU they do not even crack the performance of a HD5870.The InstantAccess, also known as Direct Resource Access (DRA), extension that Intel has implemented for 4th Generation Intel® Core™ processors Iris™ and Iris™ Pro graphics allows direct access to memory allocated on the GPU. The extension provides a mechanism for specifying which buffers will be shared and locking the memory for reading and writing from CPU side code. This sample updates the existing CPU Texture Compositing sample to use the InstantAccess extension for the composited textures.

This only works if you dont have a dedicated GPU. Even if you do, you can test it by going into Control Panel/Device manager and disabling your dedicated GPU, and then fire up Rome 2 and you should be able to click the DRA button now. Obv only works if you have a haswell. Dont know why you would do this if you have a dedicated GPU, but i guess you could try playing it on an ultrabook or business laptop
Cryo tested it that like Heinz and performance graphics quality was not good he said.
Benchmark and quality comparing Screenshot would be helpful on a Haswell with DRA on and off. Can someone do that please.
