Instead of the Mod manager I used a user_script.txt and it works for me. I took two simple mods, entered them in the script file and they work. In addition I edited the savegame file and they all seem to like each other. But only if I run the game As Administrator. The Mod Manager doesnt work for me because the mods are movie types.
As for the Unhandled exeption...I am not sure why, (my security settings grant me all rights) but the only way I can open the RFM beta or the Mod Manager or anything else is As Administrator. Then it works. Otherwise I get the same nasty error messages. I tried putting these tools in the game directory but all I got was the same. So now I have them on my desktop.

I haven't used this for a while, what is the load order? If something is at the top of the list does that get overwritten by something further down the list that has conflicts with it? Or is it the other way around?

Higher up the load order = higher load priority.

Mod A that is above Mod B in the list will mean that Mod A's files overwrite Mod B's.

However this obviously only applies if Mod A and Mod B are both activated (ticked).

Please tell me what the problem is. Someone in this thread already said something about it, but I was unable to find a solution.

When I launch the manager it says the following:
    http://imageshack.us/a/img547/8717/rmbl.png

I am unable to manually locate the exe of rome 2 when I press continue, and nothing (no mods, nothing) shows up in the manager,
It may be I am missing something really obvious but I have really searched for a solution for this, with no success.
I am running win8 64bit. Sorry for bad english.

000007b is a INVALID_IMAGE_FORMAT exception, meaning one of your .NET framework files is corrupted.

Reinstall the .NET framework, preferably .NET4.0 or later.

Can you confirm that that path the error is showing exists? i.e.
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Rome II\data"

If not put a file called dir.txt next to the exe and in the file put your path to the Rome2 exe in there. For example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Rome II

Others have expressed problems with Windows 8, so it may be something to do with that. As I don't have W8 I have no way of testing this unfortunately.

This might be my problem also. I have my os on my c drive an ssd. Rome 2 is on a raid 0 drive array.

Having it installed on a separate hard drive might be the problem.

Just an FYI Leitchy30 messaged me saying this fix worked for him:

"put a file called dir.txt next to the exe and in the file put your path to the Rome2 exe in there. For example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Rome II"

I cannot for the life of me get this to work. I downloaded the mod manager and put it on my desktop. It can't find the Rome.exe file and when I point it to the Rome II location it gives me this...See the end of this message for details on invoking

Simple thing. The Mod Manager can't find the Common.dll that was in his .zip-File. They have to be in the same folder.

    Hey mate.

I have read through this thread. Have the same issues as everyone else.

My issue is that I have Mod Manager, Installed it yesterday. Linked the Directory path. (Not through steam though. I play the game without the steam game client. Still not an issue anyway). So Ive put my mods, extracted them in the (Total war file C:\Program Files (x86)\Total War ROME II\data). I open up mod manager, and see the mods I have placed in that file. Click launch. Black screen. Womdering whats happening after waiting anxiously.ctrl-alt-delete and Rome total war has stopped working. I followed the quote "its not the Mod Manager that's the problem, its the mods". Ok. So moved all my mods one by one to see if there was a change in the 'Black screen' scenario. After removing all my mods with nothing in the folder. No mods selected, I press launch anyway. Still black screen. Have I done something wrong prior to extracting the mod manager from the link? I am not sure where to go to from here. I enojy the creativity of these mods.

please could a get advice on the matter please OR an alternative how to install mods without using the steam mod manager.

    Thanks mate.

I have a problem with the Mod Manager. Whenever I use it once, my Rome2 game is corrupted and I have to delete the whole roaming ROME2 folder so R2TW works again. I also can't seem to edit PACK's type from MOD to MOVIE without those mods making my game crash at loading screen. I really need somebody's help on this as it is removing my ability to play modified R2TW.
