Just revert back to patch 16.
So.. what do we do? Rename all of our mods to put them in the correct order? Will that make a difference?
"You hurt me long ago; my wounds bled for years. Now you are back, but I am not the same."
this mod manager still work for me... just try to delete user.script.txt if its blank , then launch mod manager, klik launch on the right borrom, check user.script.txt see if it's fills with your mod list
Update: after you see it fills with your mod list change txt to read only

Hello Mitch
I need your help. I use The Mod Manager for long time without any problem (for Rome 2). It works well for steam or non-steam versions of mods. I can lunch even my own mods thanks to your Mod Manager (MM).
The CA MM doesn't work well (always crash before launching and so).
But now after TW:Rome 2 update from August 21 your MM doesn't work at all.
After launching game it writes this:
It doesn't matter if I hit OK or Cancel, Nothing happened anyway
Do you know how to solve it? Thank you a lot
Currently it doesn't work. So if i understand correctly, if I have two reskin mods and one mod only reskins a few but the other reskins a bunch. and I load the reskin mod that only reskins a few. Will that overright the skins of the second reskin mod?
I also have this question should be how do ?

I can confirm this works although at step 3 steam displays a different message about the shortcut so I just click Yes and then nothing happens I then go to my steam library and click play on the game, it then bypassed the Rome luncher and the game started immediately with all mods loaded.

One other couldn't say better.
I can't play Rome II without all the mods I've studied two years how to combine using the real decent really useful Mod Manager I've Always stated as only one, instead of the limited pointless "official" one.
I really can't figure out how to manage in an intelligent way many mods with the crappy official one.
When I said "lost battle" I mean that I've lost my positive and enthousiastic feelings about Rome II Patches many time ago, after more than one year going crazy to test, and play a superbugged game. (mor eto say...)
Back on topic: if the mod manager is dead we see crumbling the basis of every modding-use experience for all players who had patience, calm and passion to study and manage and entwine many mods to give a chance to Rome II.
CA destroyed (or at last divided) in two years a strong, valuable, and incredibly )high quality ) creative community.
I will never understand why.
Agreed; I haven't been able to figure out how to get back where I was happily playing with eight mods. Steam's mod manager is crap by comparison.
"With a population of around a million, Rome (in Claudius' time) was a vast city even by modern standards. It is worth pointing out that during the early Renaissance the population of Rome was no more than fifteen thousand-- living amid the ruins of a civilization that dwarfed their own. It was not until the nineteenth century that the population of Rome returned to the levels it had enjoyed under the Caesars. That is eloquent proof of the fact that human history is not a tale of steady progress towards greater knowledge and achievement." Simon Scarrow
I dont think so...CA want only to test us..if the community is still alive for this game...If the Mod Manager wouldnīt be update soon... then CA also wil get back a step with updating and clearing the bugs for RTW2...
The MM is still a high priority MOD for RTW2...and without it... we cannot grows our empires...so we need to wait..and hopefully it will be updated soon..

I can confirm this method works fine. Thanks a lot, Joysong!
Just for make it clear for not native English speakers (like me!), point 3 is when The "1" window opens, clik on accept. Then click play (blue icon). If you check on the script, you will confirm the order in mods is the same you have in Mitch Mod Manager.
I canīt understand why on earth CA did this to us!

It doesn't work for me. Starts vanilla instead of Radious.
We cannot confirm this....
Yes this methods starts the vanilla RTW2 but without major mods like Radious or Toons....
THE only Method that works is to revert back to patch 16... is the only method working... (Steam Users)..
Go to beta patches and install back patch 16... this is the official method to get it to work from steam... for the moment...
and this WORKs...
if somebody need a tutorial on this...
1. go to STEAm there where you game is on the site...then
2.RIGHT click on your game in this case Rome total war 2 then...
3. go to BETAS
4. choose "Patch 16 Beta" and close..
5. Patch 16 will then be installed after this patch 17...
6.. Everything will work then before patch 17.. also the Mod Manager...
Rocks again for the moment...
Ty ..all

Cesare, I use Radious mod + all its submods and they are activated. The problem is that mods seems not to load in the exact order you put them in Mitchīs Mod Manager (I have 38 mods and the order among them is most important for the final result). Radious has updated his mod to patch 17, If you have the previous one that might be the reason because it is not working for you. I hope Mod Manager to be updated soon, because even if I revert back to patch 16 as you suggest, Radious version for that patch isnīt available since the last update. Anyway, thank you for sharing your experience. Regards.
PS Solved the problem by deleting last used mod script, and launching MM again. Mods are activeted in the right order. Some courious thing is that when the game is closed user script becomes empty.

I apologize if this has been asked, but does the game have to be launched from this mod manager, and does it have to be running in the background?
Thanks,
Colton
