but Im open for any other reasonable subsituteIf still SS is suggested do you have any sub mods that will go good with SS? maybe something that will speed up battles cause I remember battle animations were to slow when I got back from NTW to M2TW few years ago?thx in advance!

Wait a couple weeks for Titanium to come out, it's a SS 6.4 super submod, sort of an unofficial 6.5.

De Bello Mundi is so far only M2TW mod set in the RTW/TWR2 era. It's far from polished yet, but still fun and better than TWR2. KGCM is fun, easy vanilla-like mod, recommended if you wanna get into things quickly. TATW is great LOTR mod, with many options and submods (I use MOS myself). THERA is a fantasy, fun mod where you can have stuff like Roman(ish) empire facing off pike-and-shot post medieval armies...and other stuff.

Play TATW (Third Age: Total War). There are some interesting screenshots of Roma Surrectum on the Rome II forum that make that mod for TW: Rome 1 look better than Rome II! Got my copy of Rome II installed last night, was not overly impressed by the graphics (they are automatically dumbed down even if you are on the maximum setting), and the scale of the battles means they will be epic every time - maybe more like work than fun!
