Has anyone heard a response from the game creators to this now valid litany of complaints - anywhere, in any media?

Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski".
You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude.
So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh,
His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not
into the whole brevity thing.
-- The Dude
this is a Total War Rome II forum, specifically. There are many real - might I say game breaking - issues being expressed here, dude.
Sad to be you, most people are just enjoying the game. That includes me. The only issue I have is no family tree and graphics messing up the soldiers faces.
don't feel sorry for me, I'm OK. I haven't bought the game yet, but I am a diehard rusted on long term Total War player and will unavoidably end-up playing this title too, despite my growing concerns. I note even you took the opportunity in your post to have a wee complain about issues you have. I'm glad you're enjoying it and I'm sure I'll enjoy also, it is after all a new computer game from my favourite computer game title, so it's gotta beat solitaire.
Right here "At Creative Assembly we are very pleased with the response to ROME II..."

thanks for this, but it's hardly a response to many, many complaints about design decisions that are seeming more and more legitimate. 5 minute battles? how is that Total War, where in the past the battles consumed most of the game play time and the decision whether to auto resolve or go to the battle field was an integral part of your strategy and often influence by the your time constraints. In the past I've spent days on a single turn because of the battles and for me that is the feature that distinguishes Total War titles.
Yes there will be patches.
here is some second hand evidence, http://kotaku.com/rome-ii-is-busted-...elp-1254082392, i have 95% faith in this website.
I've been around on this board since 2004 and I've played every TW game since STW1.
I can say that this is the worst release yet.
Let's summarize:
Rome I: release was relatively smooth, no major gamebreaking issues other than the crazy fast game speed that no one was used to yet. Also the unit roster was far too fantasy and or anachronistic for people to accept. Unit skins were horrible too for some factions (Parthians in bright pink). Later on the community identified some major hidden bugs (melee to ranged attack value bug, siege load game bug).
MTWII: Very smooth release overall, no major issues/complaints. Though again, some huge hidden bugs in gameplay mechanics were discovered later (shield bug)
ETW: Most fail release to that point. No naval invasions, very buggy, not optimized, ran slow, but playable on a lot of rigs.
STWII: Probably the best release. People complained about a few graphical things like the shiny armor and speed, but overall well accepted and for the first time ever, no major hidden bugs in the game mechanics. The finalized version that we have now is not too different from the one we started out with.
What makes Rome II special fail is that it's literally unplayable for a large number of players with the graphics card issues. That's simply not OK. And grounds for serious rage. If this patch that comes out tomorrow doesn't fix these issues and make the game playable, lots of people at CA will be, and should be, fired, never to work in the industry again.
If I produced work like this in my job for a client, I would be rightly fired as well. The product, as it stands now, is not acceptable.
This is my signature. Isn't it awesome?

Ecthelion got it.
Even if ETW was a buggy mess on release, it wasn't actually broken. I could load it up and run it on fairly high settings despite its poor optimization. Sure, units had a tendency to form into single file when ordered to run anywhere and sometimes cannons would refuse to limber up after being deployed, but hey, I could play battles and enjoy the shiny eye candy.
I couldn't play Rome 2 for two days after launch. And after those two days, it wasn't a CA or Sega employee who fixed the problem, it was some random guy on this forum who posted a fix. This fix is required because somebody at CA apparently didn't think that some people might not want unlimited vram usage on all the time. And then there was another fix to stop the game from forcing DX11. I'm pretty sure a lot of people are having to go into their scripts folder because somebody at CA forgot to turn the options menu on.
Seriously.
It's a shoddy release. This game clearly needed some more time in the oven, but somebody, whether at Sega or CA, shoved it out the door half-dressed and hungover from its own release party. And now the people who shelled out for it are suffering the hangover. I WILL MIX AS MANY METAPHORS AS I WANT, DAMN YOU ALL.

I dont have issues so far but I dont have any fun playing this game, 160 men per unit ,the lower unit size in the last years? Who are the lead designer?
I don't understand how CA has the balls to come out and say "We're very pleased w/ the response." Wtf?
I know they can ignore our forums and TotalWar.com's all they want, but the game only has an 84 review score on Metacritic and a 4.8 user score.
User scores mean nothing because of trolls, but that 84 is second to last for the franchise!
Shogun 2: 90
Napoleon: 81
Empire: 90
Medieval II: 88
Rome: 92
I think however CA / Sega may feel the game has gone, be it reviews or user outcry, they're not going to come out and express that the game is bad. There's a big difference between acknowledging graphical issues and admitting the game failed to meet expectations. That's a sure fire way of killing off the game if it comes from the developer's or publisher's mouth. At the end of the day this is a corporate venture from both parties concerned, so fan love or input will only get so far. What I imagine they will be doing is working to fix many of the game breaking bugs, while leaving things such as battle / unit speed to the community to mod out. At least I hope they're doing that, if they aren't then they really have failed us all.
One thing which sticks out for me (I was an original Urbanis Legio for Rome I) is the way things escalate now that social media makes companies a little bit more accessible to get at. Not that I think that's a bad thing, as despite all the unquantified raging it does highlight the general issues being faced by the game populace and it places the onus on the developers to react.
