What? How? If I use anything but a whole number I can't exit the editor field, and can't save.

I tried this out and I think a found a fatal flaw in this theory.

I was defended a town and everything was going great. The enemy tried to land his forces on the shore and I stopped him from completing his landing, instead half his men made it ashore, basically he had three units, 6 ships, and 3 ships made it to ground. I killed the units, but the other ships remained in harbor, stationary. I couldn't board his ships, I had too many men to fit, and I had no navy to speak of as this was a brand new town for me. So my options are a) wait another 30 minutes (which I can't do) or b) next fight wait for him to land all his men ashore before I attack.

Or if that doesn't work, I set unit size back to normal, and I wait till someone comes along and mods this all away and I don't have to worry about it. My computer ran just fine, I like the larger army... just hope I can work through this.

Im having the same issue. Increasing the unit size is fun but the transports not being able to land is essentially gamebreaking.

I haven't been able to replay the battle yet, so they just won't land?? That's really too bad, but I'm sure in the next few weeks a full fledged mod will come out, or maybe sooner a work around for this.

I too ran into this problem last night.

I tried defending a massive 40 army coastal assault on one of my cities. I had the unit multiplier set at 2. Half the fleet landed the army on one side of the land the other moved to the coastline across from my walls. I can't be sure how many disembarked from the ships, but either way it was a mess. I cant directly point my finger on to where the glitch occurred whether it being too many men per unit per transport ship or what...

I also ran into a very strange bug where I had one lone enemy soldier that refused to die. You can see in the picture below it was 161/320 men in his unit card, although the remaining 160 where no where to be found. This little dude sat under my boiling oil for 30 mins and withstood every bit of ammo my Velites threw at him.

You can also see in the screenshot just how many units didnt disembark. All in all there seems to be an issue with doubling unit sizes in regards to naval sea assaults from enemy transport ships.
Without mercy. Without compassion. Without remorse.
    All war depends upon it.

It could work if we doubled the max men per ship which are in main unit db file. I have no idea how to do unfortunately.

I confirm, I'm having the problems with enemy armies not being able to land properly in their ship with double unit sizes. There are two ships per one double sized unit, the first one lands and the other one just stays behind it and wont move for the rest of the battle. When you are controlling the navy, you are able to land both ships per unit, provided there is enough space. Unfortunately, there isn't always enough beach space and you can imagine the difficulties of landing a 40 unit army (80 ships in total) on a battle map - pretty much impossible.

This is the only way to get round the problem in my opinion. We need to tell the boats to have triple or maybe quadruple capacity.there is just no way full stacks can disembark with double units on AND/OR 40 unit armies.

When you change the second number from 1 to 2, you need to click return to enable the change.

I dont recommend doing this if your starting from a saved game,I done a 2.0 multi in turn 14,When i came to turn 37 and noticed there was quite a few factions still on the default unit size making the game a steam roll on my end .Start a new game .

You can delete all your units at campaign start, save, change the multiplier, reload and restablish the units in either of the two possible ways. You will then have twice (or whatever multiplier had been chosen) the size in all of them. Beach landings by the A.I. are better auto-resolved. Player beach landings remain unproblematic afaik. Naval combats can sometimes lead into odd ends, too.

First you need to activate hidden files and folders. To do so open "my computer"- click "organize"-"folder and search options"-"view"-"hiden files and folders optins"- "show hidden files and options"
. Then follow the pathroute given by the original poster to find your save file.

Potential breakthrough in transport ship problem

Solved by the user Magnar in this thread - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...8#post13224598

He said that he changed the Maximum Men Per Ship so that it was equal to the Maximum Unit Size - "I made max men per ship = max unit size. other wise there is 2 ships per unit that act as 1"

He added, when editing the files, "in maint_units there is a column for Num_Men and one for Max_Men_Per_Ship I just entered the same number in each. however i've only increased the unit size by 50% so not sure how it would go with larger numbers."

Where is the Maint_units file at? I've already done a lot of personal changes and I don't want to use Magnar's mod. But I would like to adjust the transports myself, just can't seem to find that where that entry is at. Thanks
