This isn't much, but it shows the size of the 320 man unit relative to the original 160 man units. The first battle they fought was promising. Granted, they were tightly packed into a street, but they seemed to keep together because of the mass of the unit and it just looked and felt better. Unit had more weight.

Did you edit this mid campaign and not have any issues field two separate unit sizes? Wonder if it's possible instead of 2.0 use a 1.5 multiplier, can't have 1.5 ships though I assume
    :/

To fully enjoy I assume we will have to wait for the patch and the db hex transform. The garrisons may not be solved before it is possible to connect them to the multiplier.

I wasn't very far into my campaign so I changed the value and played around a bit, then started a new one, saved, quit, edited the file, and restarted. Plus I wanted to incorporate the two turns per year mod as well.

Rome 2.... slowly becoming playable. Slowly.

The garrisons seem to have some units which are doubled, although some still aren't. I *THINK* that it might be the units which are created by extra buildings that get doubled, but I don't really know much about the garrison system yet.

Also the naval battles can get a little screwy, with the double ships not liking to both board the same target at the same time. Overall though, it's a good upgrade from the regular size units which I just felt like were too small. The land battles are much improved in my opinion. They look "right" somehow and last longer. The super quick battles were one thing that especially bothered me about vanilla. City battles might be a bit crazy now that a single unit could hold up a much larger force for a long time now as it can fit across the street and have plenty of depth as well, but that was what I wanted in the first place so I suppose it's a matter of taste.

I'll upload some screens from the naval battles in a bit, they're on my desktop and I don't want to transfer all this random junk I just wrote to include it with the screens.

Doesn't seem to be working for me, directions are kind of vague/incomplete? I opened up my saved file with the editor, but change "what number" from 1 to 2? Directions just say change the 2nd number...which I did and under editor the type is System.Single, is that the correct value to change?

It does work, but it works for the RECRUITED units, not the current. I think someone said after a few turns all of them change to the current value so I shall see. Anyways, thanks a bunch!

Here you can see the General's unit card selected, and the "double ship" that results from the 2x unit size.

My general's unit boarding one of the enemy's 2 capital ships. If you board both ships will go to one of their two ships and one will board the other will hang out until its soldiers decide they can fit.

I put it onto 3x the units and the battles no longer feel as fast. The run speed isn't to bad and their seems to be a nice mass behind the unit. I think in the current game the charge kills alot of men and that is what is making combat so fast. With larger units it doesn't seem as bad.

Can't wait until we can get a permanent solution to this as the garrisons not having the correct numbers breaks the balance a bit.

May seem like a dumb question, where are rtw2's savefiles stored?

My save file keeps reverting back to regular. Does anyone know how to fix this?

You utter legends, thank you. Cannot wait to get back from work and double that unit size. This + 40 unit armies is saving this game for me. God bless all of your souls.

It makes such a difference. Battles last longer, units stay in formation better... two huge problems with the game seemingly made much, much less severe by increasing the unit sizes. Yeah, there's a performance hit, but it's worth it IMO.

Game's still buggy, of course, like this guy stopping to dance and my soldiers standing around looking at him:

But thanks to mods, and hopefully subsequent performance and optimization patches, Rome 2 will probably end up being fine.

Worked for me. Are you sure you didn't recruit them before making the change? I had 320 man Italian spearmen.

I dont try it yet but after save the file be sure that you put a file as a read only.

Tried with 1,5 this works too, for the ones whos machine can't take double numbers so easy.
Unfortunately ships are still doubled. Just with lesser men. I hoped ships only doubled when set to 2 upwards and are just more crowded when set with 1,x. But well, alot of Ships look really nice

So seeing as this 2.0 unit multiplier is in theory the same amount of troops on screen as my 40 unit/army tweak, can anyone confirm the performance with the 2.0 multiplier and 40 units in battle??

I can only hope that after some of these patches that the optimization and performance will be further improved to allow for the top tier rigs to handle this decently.

I will confirm later this evening when I get back home. I have 40 units enabled and will double my unit size too.
