Default Please tell me if my history is wrong...

Isn't it wrong to have an Egyptian obelisk (hieroglyphics and all, note the stylized eagle just like in Egypt's faction symbol at the top of the obelisk) in the center of Larissa (screenshot taken during my siege of Larissa playing as Athens)?
Are these Greek swordsmen equipped with Celtic/Gallic swords (I have only played as Macedon and Athens so far, and the swordsmen of both use these models)? They don't look like any Xiphos-type or Machaira-type swords that I've seen, although the picture of a celtic sword in this link: http://www.sword-buyers-guide.com/im...de-by-side.jpg looks like the one in the game (AND like the one in that weird picture of the wild-eyed soldier wiping his sword off with a clump of leaves seen during the loading sequence). I haven't studied Greek swords that much, so I wouldn't know if the game features a reasonable take on Greek swords of the period.
Lastly, for the lulz, a screenshot of Hellenic Royal Guard (or whatever they're called) pikemen who refused to turn around and fight my men and stood their as their superb morale was worn down until they routed.
PS: is anyone else having a VERY hard time killing/capturing routing men during the end of the battle (even if you try shooting at them)? I can have fast cavalry or fast, light infantry/missile troops chase routers (and literally end up in one big blob seemingly running with them to the red line) for minutes with almost no results (maybe a kill per minute)?

I'm having a hard time killing routers. That part is like Rome 1 more than Shogun 2 where I had rout kill fests every battle. The "less armies, more important battles, less autoresolve" stuff CA kept saying loses its meaning when a routed army comes back several times because it's hard to kill all of them in one battle.

Also, the pikes are really dumb after fighting their first engagement. They'll just stand there or get stuck if an enemy unit attacks them. You have to manually reform them to get them to try to act normally, something the AI just doesn't do.

Phalanx is bugged as is capturing routing troops.

Obelisks were very popular in the ancient world (ever been to Rome?) so I can't say I find anything wrong with it.
Those swords simply look like over sized Lakonian's
    And the BAI is drunk.

There does seem to be a kind of bug with armies not being routed properly. I had this barbarian general, no cities left, and everytime he'd attack the garrison of about a thousand, he'd rout... and then come right back with 15 more. I eventually just sunk him at sea and it seemed to have killed him.

I'd say it's good EXP farm, but you also don't seem to gain as much EXP from tiny fights... it's also tedious for the achievements of not using an autoresolve for the entire campaign, to have to fight them off repeatedly but...

Here you are. It is clearly supposed to be Egyptian. I did a bunch of Google searching and found nothing about an obelisk being in Larissa.

Copying and/or stealing ancient Egyptian things was a fairly common thing in the ancient world. Sort of like how Europe copies Roman stuff these days. Prior to Rome, Egypt was seen as THE great western empire. And not without reason, after all, they had been civilized for 2800 years by the start of the game. The Romans themselves sough to imitate some of the trappings of ancient Egypt, much as modern states employ Roman imagery, to create a sense of permanence and establish a connection to the glories of the past (even if you had nothing to do with them.)

However, I'm not really sure that people were in the habit of actually stealing things from Egypt prior to the Romans. IIRC they were really the ones who started the trend with things like the obelisk in St. Peter's Square (which was moved there by Augustus.) I'm not sure how an obelisk would wind up in pre-Roman Greece, though, although it is possible that things could have been brought back in Alexander's time.

The Romans up and stole several obelisks, markings and all. A random obelisk in a Mediterranean city faves me about as much as snow in December in the Rockies.

Tho there was not one in that city they were spread around here and there and it is not that far off. For a mass produced AAA sim, they did pretty well with the details. Carthage looks a bit too Roman as they had their own distinctive architecture which was supressed by the Romans and not many accurate records and almost no images remain, only written records. But so far, not too bad. We can hope for modding in the future.
