Default So how pre-ordered, who bought it on release, who will later and who won't at all?

It would be useful and interesting so see some stats. It appears that the majority of active people here have bought the game, yet there are also many who are waiting.

Technically I guess I preordered, but since mine was gifted to me I didn't personally do it. I've learned long ago that CA releases games unfinished so I just wait for the steam sales so I can get what the game was supposed to be like on release at a nice discount.

Rome 2 is no exception. I can't play on anything higher than medium if I want a decent frame rate, and no I don't have a crappy computer. My computer could run shogun 2 at high/ultra and that was before I upgraded the GPU. Sorry but that makes it unplayable for me. I didn't buy a $300 graphics card just to play this game on medium settings.

I have no idea how anybody can possibly think it's a good idea to pre-order a game from a major publisher. Maybe if it's an indie game and your pre-order is part of the Kickstarter campaign or something, but if the game is being funded by a deep pocketed corporation, pre-ordering is just a terrible idea. Wait to see how fixed the game gets after a patch or two. For that matter, wait to see if the developer even bothers with a patch or two, some of them are pretty shady.

People keep laying money down to pre-order games, keep being disappointed by the game when it comes out and doesn't live up to the hype, and then keep doing it all over again for the next game.

    I'm glad I didn't pre-order, if my rant hasn't made that clear.
My decision to buy the game later is based entirely on personal (and disappointing) experience with games that I did pre-order.
I'm completely happy to buy it later. By then, most likely the pre-order factions will be available as a paid DLC to everybody else, so even that is not an issue for me.
