    Default Christmas at Carthage 24/7

Does anyone else find the constant red, green and white combination of Carthaginian troops a little disturbing?

I sort of don't play many battles because so far as Carthage I've had something like 90% naval battles sinking Roman legions that are magically sailing across my Mediterranean. But the colors are a little strange.

You want to know what really upsets me about Carthage though? The fact that there isn't a glassware resource in the same region as the actual city. I'm pretty sure Carthage was one of the best civilizations with glass at the time, and I'm tired of not having anything to trade as them from the beginning. Ridiculous. Taking over cities made me feel a bit better.

I don't really care for any of the faction colors. Macedon and Athens are the only ones half way decent, Pontus and Parthia tied for worse colored uniforms.

Yerp, specifically (actually, all Phoenicians) best known for their tyrian purple dyestuff from the murex shellfish, which cost a fortune in the ancient world (Pliny says 10,000 shelfish for a single toga!!!!!)

That's not my point anyway, I'm just saying Christmas Carthaginians look ridiculous

Very much in agreement, easy fix when tools become available.

Personally, I don't like the idea of faction colors.
Its quite silly and during battle its not obvious where lines end and begin even with colored troops as some have armor such as bronze that cannot be colored.

I'd go back and edit troops according social status.

Lower tier troops get rags and basic tunics.
Upper tier troops are able to feature better clothed and colored fabrics.

Carthaginian people wore the same materials as peoples around the Mediterranean.
If you want to distinguish battle lines, use the colored banners or faction button.

    .

It's not an idea. When your main purpose is showing great graphics when you zoom in (and everybody: "ooohhh gorgeous!") but you have also obviously to allow everybody's system to render thousands of men on the battlefield then "the solution" is making soldiers tiny as ants. Therefore, when you have to zoom out and manage your ants army if you want to discern units the "colour blob" is the only way... smoke for child eyes.

Yeah that's a great idea, but it'd be weird to just have Carthage with realistic colours. I'm guessing you plan on doing it to all factions (as am I )?

That or we could just rename the game Santa: Total War.
How far will you go for Christmas?

Still - gotta like the unit diversity. I mean we will eventually be able to recolour units, but it's good to see guys with different colour shields.

    There's no doubt.
And the shields are dirty and scratched.
Those little things that allow you to annihilate in style.

Of course its mostly due to improved texturizing and shaders since RomeI but much better than attack of the clones

Or they're the units with a massive flag of your faction floating above them...
