Well..that explains a lot of why this game is a giant sack of. It was designed so it could be ported over to consoles easier.
RIP Total War.

Just too lazy to post
Indeed
If you read the fine print, it states that SEGA is considering it.
Consideration is more than enough, and it's a disgusting move by SEGA. Total War should never be a console game for simple reason that it would need a lot of dumbing down to be playable on consoles in the first place. Then are all the massive technical limitations of consoles...
It will happen face it right now we we are in a unique timeframe in game development.A time where porting from PC to PS4 can be done in a few months in return for millions upon millions for very little development time and effort as the game is being made for PC anyways. The people saying that Totalwar could never be played on console or with controller are wrong it is a simple point and click game easily ported over to a controller with some smart camera work. And they could get R2 running on the Xbox easily within 6 months as they are both now proper PC's.They would have to go wide with the multicore programming and use every last bit of the eight cores of cpu power but it could be done no problems. And they could also have the xbox community playing online with the pc community via the new xbox feature that lets us both mingle with each other.Just imagine having comms with all those wonderful ten year old console owners!
I admit i would like to see a bigger budget and more care and time put into the series and better multicoding but i know it would be like selling the house to buy a car.It would be a short term investment i would live to regret as we all know in 3 years time the consoles will not be fit for purpose and they will be running old directx versions and will tie the whole series into outdated technology just like any game ported from PS3 is currently.Eventually we will get our multicore optimization we do not need to sell our souls for it now.
But hey that will never happen right?
Wrong look back to Rome I when CA were a private studio and sold out to Sega to futher the series in the same way i bet thier diector is doing now sitting in his directors chair thinking what if we hit it big and Totalwar goes mainstream like call of duty it could really benefit our games and franchise.Did it really benefit them though? Now they are slaves to the Sega deadline and sold thier souls. This is why we got this shocking game called Rome II fresh off the backs off the overworked and probably under paid CA staff whipped relentlessly by the evil sega.

3570K 4700mhz cooled with Corsair H80 // Asus Z77 // MSI GTX 580
16GB 2400mhz DDR3 // Crucial M4 256GB Raid 0 // Dell 2007WFP
yeah, sad that they are GOING to port it to consoles because everyone knows the PS4 and Xbox1 are going to be big.
I was messing around with the audio files and see they are already nativly encoded for Xbox.
A truly disappointing turn of events if this falls true.
I refuse to show up at the funeral.
No, the move is being considered, but the devs are already at work testing and porting scripts.
OP is right.

I will leave this here. Good luck for the next TW, lol.
The thread title is very misleading, and the article is very ambiguous. Sega didn't say specifically they were going to port Rome 2 it could be a future game it could be Total War arena for all we know. They also said they are considering it they did not actually say they are going to port it.
That being said, it would suck to play Total War on a pad and look what happened to Dragon Age when EA ported Dragon Age 2 to consoles.![]()
Personally Dragon Age 2 was better then Origins. /offtopic
And... so what if they do? It's not like this is going to change the PC experience much. Beyond I guess, the historical nutjobs getting shafted to have more exciting and fun gameplay, instead of diehard realism.
I shall remain loyal to CA until something is confirmed. I can forgive every single bug, issue and bad decision CA makes (I dont mind Rome 2 at all and think it is getting far more flak than it should) however if they actually move it to consoles to attempt to reel in the average CoD player then I shall be done. In other words as long as they make it only for PC I shall buy their games.
they've been saying it for years.......... so no need to panic! this forum needs the Mods to clean up and lock this type of threads, since its flooded with crying and whinning and trolling instead of constructive criticism!
Common sense removed due being Disruptive.
