    Default Battle Speed Test

Considering the maelstrom stirred up by people annoyed by the rapid battle pace I decided to do a test in a custom battle on normal ( I generally play on VH, and in campaign Legendary ). I fought this battle as I would any other, using sound positions and flanking maneuvers.

The battle is fought on flat ground between two equally matches armies of Carthage and Rome: 3 Skirmishers, 1 General and 6 Infantry Units. All the units can be purchased without having to research/build anything besides a level 1 Barracks.

My conclusion, based not only on this battle but also my campaign experience, is that battle AI is responsible for the enemy getting destroyed quickly but that battle speed is fine. It took me 3 minutes to defeat the enemy once I had engaged him and given the mistakes the AI had done it was not surprising.

So improve the BAI CA, because you really didn't do anything worth really mentioning compared to Shogun 2.

NOTE: Video is 1080, but might need some time to process.

"It's bizarre though. Donald Trump, an ageing, orange skinned reality TV star with a history of selling steaks and conning people, a trophy wife and one of the most fragile egos I've seen pretty much just destroyed the head of the interventionist faction in the US State apparatus, Victoria Nuland, after literally becoming President of the United states. We must live in one of the more interesting timelines."

The ai is pretty bad, however if you do combat between 2 units of troops and engage them directly, one of the units will be wiped out within a minute.

The kill rate would probably be fine if the unit sizes were around 300-400 men per unit but they are not and need to be toned down.
