    Default Changing the strat models

    As the title says i want to change the strat models, i can't open the vannila models in max, so i guess they have to be done with text editing but i tried replacing the models in the dms, which gave a ctd with no show_err. anyone ever seen anything on how to do this????.

    I beleive, you can replace any strat-models with any battlefield models. It needs some customization, but it's only a re-scaled unit.
    I have done this before.

    Are you sure you can't import the models in data/models_strat? It says the model is of an older version of the format, but when I press continue the model shows up fine.

    i beleive u also need to edit decsr_char

    The models are perfectly importing into 3dsmax to me...The only thing in which they are different from "normal" models is their poly count...

    Sorry, i should have said i'm trying to import the ones for bi with max 8 maybe theres a difference, it looks like they import fine but when i zoom in theres nothing there. anyway, i only wanted to see what the weapon set up is, ie do they have primary weapon sword and a banner, or is the sword a seperate element. i'll do some tests.

    Sometimes changing field-of-view helps.Try to set field-of-view to 1.0(because the model itself is very small and it dissapears once you zoom in)

    I try to change the skin and works but looks all wierd, because im trying to change it to the AtG greek general. But the model and shador........what do i do there?

    The shadow model you can leave as default, its not improtant. For the model, just change the line to data\models_unit\whatever atgs generals models is called .cas and it'll work fine on the campaign.

    CTD's with no show_err are ussually given when the model is bugged or because of typos in DMS. If you can't import that model with Verc's script then it's bugged no doubt and you have nothing to do then to remesh the texture.

    If you were talking of white spots I haven't figured out why they show either. And I haven't seen them only in my work but on other mods too. Is lowering the poly (using lod2) for the SM model a solution? Is it because of the 256x256 texture instead of a smaller one, suited for strat models such as 128x128? Just courios. I haven't tried what I said so far. What I did was hi poly models with 256x256 textures trying to bring as sm and the white spots keep appearing.

    Its becasue the models haven't had the smooth modifer applied to them. Once thats applied to them the white spots disappear.

    A quick tip for all you 3dsmax users. Press the 'Z' key when you've imported a model and it will zoom in on the model.

    If you press Z with any object selected it zooms and focuses on that object

    *chuckles* i remember when i started on max i imported something and nothin showed up i didnt realise you need to zoom in so i was posting on forums this doesnt work! hehe
