Unique problem with Steam - R2:TW download stops and crashes/freezes Steam.
Hi TW Center! I have a problem with downloading Rome 2: Total War via Steam. I have submitted a ticket to Steam, however as we all know, they can take forever, so I figured I'd also consult the veritable tech-wizards of TW Center. The issue occurs at exactly 67.6MB into the download on Steam, at which point the download simply stops and Steam freezes approximately 1 minute later. I think this is a little strange because I've done a complete clean uninstall of Steam, and cleaned my registry of everything that has to do with Steam & Creative Assembly - so there shouldn't be anything on my computer, such as a cache or a corrupt registry key, that should cause the download to suddenly stop at this oddly-specific point of 67.6MB. So, what have I tried thus far?-Multiple attempts to do clean reinstalls of Steam-Cleaned registry-Checked network: used multiple physical connections, bypassed the router, etc.-Opened a port forwarding range for Steam So, how do I know it's specific to this one game? Well, I've tried many other games, large and small, which all download perfectly. These include:-Kerbal Space Program-Deus Ex - Human Revolution-Far Cry 3-ArmA 3 Beta-Take On Mars It seems more likely that there's a problem with the information that is being sent to me, however I'm suspicious of this because I don't see any posts about Steam not being able to finish one particular game like this. Anyway, I have to run, but before I do - allow me to paste my Steam ticket into this post:{Ticket number 5106-YAJM-6258Category Steam Client > Steam Client CrashesEmail _______@gmail.comProduct Rome: Total War seriesSteam Account Login Name ________Operating System Windows 7/VistaModify Question Properties Print Question Close TicketThis Question's Message(s) 1 Message by you on Tue, 3rd Sep 2013 11:57 pmHi,I was gifted (through Steam) a copy of Rome 2: Total War by a friend this evening, and Steam cannot get past 67.6MB on the download - it hangs there and freezes steam in about a minute or so. I have checked all my network connections multiple times over, I've even downloaded another game on Steam just to double-check, and R2:TW consistently stops at the same exact point - even after doing a clean reinstall of Steam. It's rather odd that a download would freeze at exactly 67.6MB every time. I have no idea what is causing this, and I cannot find another case on the forums or the support website which is similar.Steps taken (vast majority tried multiple times)
eleted local content of Rome 2: Total WarUninstalled/reinstalled SteamSet up port forwarding on my router for SteamDirectly connected to my cable modemTried alternative connections on router, PC, and modemSuccessfully downloaded other game titles via SteamPlease let me know if there's anything I can do to remedy this situation.}

I'd love to edit my post, as it looks like one giant unorganized run-on paragraph since it didn't accept my line spacing, but I cannot.

This issue has been resolved. Microsoft Security Essentials was killing the download at 67.6MB.
