I would not have super high hopes for first update, sure it will fix loads of issues, of course, but still game of this scale needs a very long beta testing period. Earlier this summer I said that my first real campaign would be in January and it seems quite realistic at this point. CA workers will need to have holidays and such, some are appointed to a new projects. One patch per week cant go on forever and game development will slow down later this year.

Betas are very much finished product, but more leaning into bug hunting. but its impossible to hunt them all down because CA can't test on every single PC config. theres thousands of possible PC configs and each with different outcome.

And we should be happy for a more quick support/patching delivery time, right? better then wait month or two between patches
Common sense removed due being Disruptive.

The snow on shields and weapons have a bug. Form some angle the snow vanishes. If you remove it complete from shields it would be better. Bettter for graphics and better for logic. Who let snow on a shield which is use in a battle?

Hopefully not only the graphical issues are corrected, but also some of the strange gameplay decisions:

-No 'Loose' or 'Tight' generic formation commands. Can't spread to avoid enemy fire?!

-No 'Guard' command, your units cannot be instructed to maintain their position and formation at all costs.Even the most disciplined melee troops devolve into a blob during melee combat.

-You cannot toggle fire at will on infantry with javelins, they only fire when they charge. Some unfortunate tactical consequences are that they cannot throw javelins to break an enemy charge and then receive the broken charge, they cannot fire on skirmishers and cavalry harassing them, and if you move reserves to reinforce a battle line they will AUTOMATICALLY throw their javelins into the backs of your own men who are already engaged.

LMAO @ throwing your javelins into your own guys backs!!! I can't believe this is actually in the game! Craig and his handlers should be on here not making announcements, but apologizing! That is just pathetic. It serisouly shows that they either never played the game before they released it, or they just didn't care that they released the game with a HUGE flaw. I'd ask Craig like all these other people talking to him, but lets face it; he stopped by to drop off a message. This is a one-way line of comms people. Stop talking to the guy, asking him questions and thanking him for something that hasn't even happened yet; he isn't coming back.

    Slow down the battles please...

It's like everyone in Classical Antiquity was smacked out of their heads on crack.

Weekly patches? Fantastic I'd much rather have a small amount of issues fixed every week, than having to wait a month for a massive patch that introduces it's own bugs as well. Best thing about Steam, the way patches can be automatically rolled out so you don't have to limit 'em.

I'm sure you've seen plenty of requests for improvement Craig, but I do hope there can be a fire at will option added to missile-carrying infantry. I would also like the battles to be a little slower, as would many.

Craig, is somebody at Sega threatening you? We can help you, you know. Just tell as and we'll call the police.

Yeah, can someone at CA explain this one to me? And then can you tell us what genius came up with this idea, and fire him? Or at least make him clean the office bathrooms for a month?

The moment they announced 1TPY I had a bad feeling that the minds guiding this project really don't 'get' Total War. CA invested God-knows-what resources into facial animations (which you can't see anyway since the battles are so quick) but stripped the passing seasons from the game's world. Talk about misunderstanding the concept of immersion*. At a technical level, the CA team continue to do great work. At a conceptual level, I fear they're being directed by bean-counters.

*And the sad thing is they had this nailed in N:TW and S2:TW, both of which had living, breathing campaign maps depicted in multiple turns per year. In Napoleon, remember how frozen and mist-shrouded the Alps look in midwinter? And in S2, remember trying to rush an army back to your home provinces before winter hit? I want Rome 2 to feel the same way. You can keep your facial animations.

Anyone associated with this half-arsed joke of a cash cow should hang their heads in shame. The media machine surrounding this release dressed the game up in the finery of a glorious spectacle.

Well now we see the truth.

The Emperor isn't wearing any clothes and he is nothing but a frail shell of a man.

Absolutely shameless CA. I've fallen out of love with you.

What happened to drop in battles?

Most people probably didn't care about them, since 90% of drop in battles were either somebody forgetting to turn the 'feature' off, or somebody enabling it only in battles where they grossly outnumbered the enemy.

Thank you for stating the obvious in that there will be multiple update patches to follow in the coming weeks. I'm sure there will be no shortage of DLC as well.
