    Thank you!

If they actually gave you guys the personal preference features you were asking for, more historical authenticity, longer battles, bigger armies, no one would buy the game. It would be a smalltime niche indie game for a community of a few hundred people.

Even as it is several reviewers have called this edition of the series boring. Remember how historically inaccurate Rome 1 was? They've made leaps and bounds in improvements there. CA didn't make Rome: Total Realism or Europa Barbarorum so I don't get why you expect vanilla Rome to be those games.

Note that I am not commenting on the technical issues. Those are actual, legitimate complaints.

I find it unreal that people think the battle speeds are fine. What are you all 10 years old? The battles last 5 damn minutes, it's a joke.

I consider myself lucky (which hardly happens) I do not have graphical issues or performance issues for the most part. But there is this thing that a lot of companies do called "Beta" where they have people volunteer and then you invite a couple hundred or so in to test for things.
May your road lead you to warm sands.

Can not agree with you. Lags are problemm too, but game speed is "bad feature", meantime lags are mistakes.

OK, I was told here by a poster that CA have implemented an option to turn the trails off. So where is it then? I've checked all the graphics options, I've even turned the particle effects down to low - the trails are still present and (in)correct.

@Unwelcome Guest - it has some rough edges, but it is certainly nowhere near as bad as some people here make out. Still, I shouldn't be surprised: I played, and enjoyed, the original Rome for months with no patches/mods, yet apparently it was 'unplayable' according to people here...

Thanks for the updates and all your hard work! Unlike most people, I've found that I can enjoy the majority of the game thus far, although Carthage is an absolute beast which took me about 6 hours to figure out how to even get started without eventual failure. The battles are still just a tad too fast for my taste once the units actually engage, any word on something happening with this?

As long as it works...the serious war-gamers...people whom have been around and/or here for years are expressing disappointment with many differing aspects of this game already. It is not enough to simply placate the newbies...not anymore.

Start a battle -> ESC -> Options -> Battle Interface -> Remove missile trails ( not sure how the option is in English though , hope this helps anyways )
Absolutely - that was very helpful. I wasn't expecting to find something to do with graphics in the Battle Interface though - it's hardly an obvious place to put an option about missile trails, is it...

Speaking of which - I dislike the yellow circles around selected troops - makes the game look really ugly. Trouble is, turning them off just leaves you with a slight glow around the unit's flag to indicate it's selected. Could you brighten that glow up a bit, CA - or give the option to have the flags bob up and down a bit faster when selected? Anything other than those ugly yellow circles.

And as to the guy who said there are no capture points on open field battles - that's funny: I've just captured one myself in the campaign, open field battle and in the middle of nowhere - not up a hill or anything. When the timer ran down, I won the battle. Sounds like it's you who hasn't played the game...

Well, CA..., please stop lying already, its getting boring... . First You say at pre-lease presentation that You are showing pre-alpha build a week from release, then say that game will run same as Shogun 2(i playd Shogun 2 on ultra, Rome 2 dont run smooth even on ultra LOW), yestterday this Craig or whoever he is commented on PoM video that this is not finall version of the game which was given for "press"(read- CA pupils). Also this Craig said that there will be some patch at release fixing those AI bugs and now spreading this propaganda that they are pleased for "hundreds of thousands" enjoying the game and "we will fix all the problems week by week, working veeeryyy, veeeryyy hard". Just admit at once you've released alpha game, without any tests and that you are not "pleased", but scared by all this hate on your and TWC forums with metacritic score going low as hell. Just admit it.... .

if capture points prevent the human player ( and the AI too) from abusing stuff like camping on a mountain waiting for the attack, then they are a welcome improvement
You are whining about them because you got pawned

thats exactly it.. a defending army should be able to take an advantageous position like they've been able to in all tw games....An easy fix to this problem is the capture point being placed when you start the battle at the place where the defender has most of its army.. or something to that effect.

What you crying about, all they have to do is giving us MSAA option anything else they left to the modders to fix it.It'll be free for them and without a sweat.Battle mechanics, unit cards and so on....They won't fix it, it's done. They have never had realeased patches which fixing these things.

Is this a joke? The whole point of the battles in this series is to be able to win through superior tactics rather than simple brute force, and part of superior tactics means knowing how to use the terrain to your advantage. If you have a hill that gives you a tactical advantage over a numerically superior foe (or really, any foe), why the hell would you ever want to put your guys down on non-descript flat terrain that plays to the enemy's strengths, other than because of some stupid artificial constraint placed on you by the game's developers? That's always been a huge part of the fun in this series. Especially since Rome 1, if you can see enemies on the campaign map on terrain that looks clearly disadvantageous, you avoid attacking them there as much as you possibly can. Capture points like that take out huge chunk of the tactics. :|

And to the guy who asked if I had my guys on forced march...I'm not sure. I put that army on "live off the land" stance, but with the amount of weird issues this game's having, it's entirely possible they didn't stay that way. Either way, that shouldn't have applied because I was laying siege, and got attacked by an enemy force coming to the town's relief. As far as this being a thing to instill the idea of a forced march, an infinitely less nonsensical way to do that would have been to limit the amount of space you have on the deployment phase if you're in that stance, similar to how it does if you get ambushed.
