I have been waiting, as many of you have, for this game to come out and for it to be the time of my life.
There are issues with the graphics. I am disappointed that there is no family tree, and there are many other ways that they could have optimized this game. Soldiers move too quickly for me and I don't like 1 turn per year. But all that said, I have only played 10 hours of game and I have enjoyed the game very much because of other new things like not having to build a boat to transport troops (excellent, excellent idea), or how the CAI does try to help you in campaign. But I mostly enjoy it because I remember that this is simply a video game, and I say this as someone that loves what Creative Assembly has done since 2002 when I first played Medieval 1. This is not real life.
We should be able to have a product that we can be truly excited about, but you know what conclusion that I have come to for everyone. It will never be perfect, and these games are designed for CONSUMPTION, not so that we can create a life outside of our lives.
That said, CA, a way that you guys could rectify this is by not having customers pay $60 for a product that you know is not fully done; why not have it release for 1/2-2/3's of that, then charge for the dlc if you want; this how you got your loyal fan base in the first place. You made 95% complete games at a fair price. We expect patches; people don't expect all this hype only to be crushed (I'm not but that's how people are acting), by seeing, allegedly, poorer path finding than previous titles or soldiers floating in the towers or whatever people are saying.
Listen to the rational people on this site that are giving honest feedback; the truth is in the middle usually. Every time a new game comes out people whine (I know someone will say that I just joined this year, but I have been following this forum since it came out), sometimes for good reason, but others times just because they expect a perfection that is not attainable. Some of this complaining can be fixed by people just remembering what I said; this is a video game but also, that if you turn the graphics setting down to what your pc can actually handle, then that should fix the aesthetics. As far as people seeing soldiers floating or the speed, well, that is something that CA can correct and they should.
People, chill out.
CA, make it right.
