First off, good job CA - Rome 2 is a good game, but there are some niggles and rough edges that need looking at...
...which is where the title comes in! So to you wonderful modders out there, can you do anything about the following:
The damn trails. I hate them and they're entirely unnecessary! I believe they're in the game so you can see the direction the fire is going? BS. Watch this video (from 3 minutes onwards):
See those javelin? No trails at all, and you can see perfectly well where they're coming from. Lose the trails please CA - or modders. As well as looking rubbish, I bet they do a fair job of slowing the game down!
The music. From what I've heard so far, it's bland and generic; can Rome TW's music be modded back in? I know I could have it playing in the background, but it doesn't change dynamically that way, does it?
The 'impact puffs'. They're entirely unnecessary and make the game look stupid. Off switch please!
The way infantry throw their pilae. Seriously CA it was perfect in Rome TW - why change it? It looks rubbish now (they basically throw them at point blank range) it sounds rubbish (that nice deep 'woosh' sound from Rome TW is gone) and it takes away a strategic option, namely the ability to have your troops hold their ground and throw pilae at the enemy as they advance. Modders - would it be possible to give the infantry the skirmishing ability, so they'll throw pilae when standing still?
Capture points in open battlefields. Please CA, what the hell were you thinking???? I've already lost far too many battles because I forgot about a capture point in the middle of a flat plain, with no strategic advantage that was only there because you decided to put capture points in the game. They're rubbish, CA. Understand? I'm sure they work wonderfully well with MP, but for SP they are garbage. Get rid. Got that? Because right now, they ruin open field pitched battles. I like them in the cities - it eliminates that cheap tactic of rushing the centre square with one unit - but in open battles they have got to go. I'm not sure if the modders can do anything about this one.![]()
