RPS Final Verdict Thread
First and foremost: Here's the link so you can read what they recently posted. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013...r-rome-ii/This thread is so we can discuss the RPS crew's opinions and our own. I personally enjoyed the objective and critical eye that they took to not only Rome II, but the Total War franchise at large. Originally their Wot I Thought article, which I'll link below, gave a much more forgiving review. As we continue to uncover the deep fundamental issues with not only the AI, but the actual entire engine, I imagine people will continue to downgrade their original ratings. Rome II is a beautiful game, but it's a bit like my ex girlfriend where it has no actual substance beyond some very shallow depth. Ultimately, a hundred US dollars later (or your Euro equivalent) we will have a finished product that includes the content they pulled or intentionally chose not to include, as well as a working product after dozens of patches over the course of the next year or so. Ofcourse, it could end up like Empire, and never be fixed, leaving us yet again cursing CA's evil capitalist ways. I'm honestly probably not going to be a customer anymore. I've loved their games for a long time, and have spent countless hours of my childhood enjoying Rome Total War and Medieval Total War's delights. But after Empire, Napoleon, and Shogun II... I just can't justify shelling out the money for an obviously broken and incomplete beta build pushed out the door to milk us for money. Anyway, that's just my opinion, the point here is to hear all of yours! And here's the original RPS review, if you care to see the glaring differences: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013...l-war-rome-ii/
