Default 13 dollars for Greek Culture states DLC!?!

While I am loath to wallow in the excess of finger pointing and flaming against CA. WTF is with the Greek Culture states DLC?!?
As some one who hates DLC with passion, I have to be honest that this price seems ENORMOUS for what is basically cut content.
Also, as a resident of Australia, I know we are gouged of every penny for video-games, but even this seems excessive for what should of been in the game in the beginning. Is it this expensive world wide? The faction DLC in shogun was only about 6 dollars max.
Does anyone else think this is a bit much?

P.S. Mods, this is not a complaint but more so a thread for the discussion of the ethics of this action.

So, you know exactly how the development and budget schedule of the game went, right?

So, you were completely high when you wrote this right? This is a game set in the 300s BC, that doesn't come with playable Greek city states... Because when most people think of factions from that era they jump right to wanting to play Suebi and Iceni don't they?

You just pointed out a business is attempting to sell something they know a lot of people want.. all the while trying to make a point about common sense.

    Irony, its amazing.

I hate not being able to edit my post -- the faction DLC in Shogun 2 gave you a single faction. The Culture Pack DLCs give you three variations on a central culture, each with 3 unique traits, and a number of unique units, meaning it's actually a better value for money if your prices are accurate there.

That may be true, but was making it DLC really necessary? While I do understand they need to fund themselves, people are already forking out 80 dollars of their hard earned cash to get the game, why make them pay another 1/8 of the price for factions that were already in the original Rome from the get-go?

How in the hell is $13.00 a good value?? After spending $50+ for the base game?

On the one hand, I could break down exactly what I said to you. On the other, I think it'll be more fun to see you struggle with reading comprehension.

That's $80 in Australia, I bought a hard copy from a store and I think that was actually cheaper than buying from Steam after currency conversion. Yeah $13 is cheap in Aus for the DLC.

But I don't begrudge CA trying to earn some extra cash, their prices are very reasonable compared to some.
Proculus: Divine Caesar, PLEASE! What have I done? Why am I here?
    Caligula: Treason!
Proculus: Treason? I have always been loyal to you!
Caligula: [laughs insanely] That IS your treason! You're an honest man, Proculus, which means a bad Roman! Therefore, you are a traitor! Logical, hmm? Ha, ha, ha!

It's $7.99 in the States and yes, that strikes me as high.

It's a pretty despicable practice, IMO. I was happy paying for small things in Shogun II because they only cost a few pounds, but 7-8 pounds just for a few factions is disgusting. Think about DLC for other games, full content packs such as Fallout 3's DLC will cost about 15 pounds and offer hours upon hours of new content, not just a new starting position and aesthetic changes.

Gettin' might sick of your , DLC.

Way too high. Be advised, CA and SEGA employees are hitting this forum hard over the past hour or so. So don't be suprised if you see that false advertising pre-release game hype again.

Thanks for the warning. They should spend sometime correcting the blobbing A.I. and Zombie looks to the units and less lurking.

The game is £44.99 in the UK. For comparison, a pc game is typical £29.99 and a console game £39.99. With the content removed and sold separate it comes out at well over half of £100.
While you get tons of value from Total War games, if this is standard practice from now on (and given Rome II's huge sales it might be) imma gona be looking twice before picking up the next title. Esp with the issues it has. It has a bigger team a bigger budget and a higher price tug but it's still resulted in a highly unstable product.

The UK being the Union of Klingons? Because in the United Kingdom, its £30 in most shops (and it was £29.99 including free £7 DLC if you prepurchased it. Frankly I don't mind them releasing the game a month before its ready if I get to pay less, just as long as it does end up in a playable state).

Also, seeing as the Greek City States were vanilla content in Rome, it makes it much worse.

I imagine we'll see more Rome I factions popping up as DLC later. This is just the start 8D

Sadly, you're probably right. It's shameful that developers can get away with this kinda . Remember when games used to ship finished?
