    Default Thank Jupiter for RS2

U will be downloading the newest version of RS2 because it is still the king of RTW mods.

Just attempted to play Rome 2 total war and i can say it is about a year away from being playable. We need mods asap as the battles are the worst of he TW series. What kind of issues?....

Armies don't form battle lines and clash.

Infantry has no guard mode. Because of this individual soldiers take off in all directions and angles with no battle lines and skirmish in a big messy mosh pit.
Phalanx does not remotely work. Cannot move and retain formation.

Because armies don't form lines everybody is flanking everybody with your head on a swivel. No sense of tactics just zoom around and click away.

Battles are short so you can't properly use tactics as it's just random mess. Also you cannot settle in and watch your men fight it out because it is over too quickly and no time to take your eye off anything for a second.

Absurd magical powers and prompts to go to an area to increase reload rate. Seriosuly?

Terrible battle animations and bad graphics.

Defenders don't defend walls or breached wall bottlenecks and your men often won't come of walls even when ordered many times when you are the attacker.

Random pointless capture points sometimes in a random empty corner of a town forcing you to leave an effective strategic defensive position to race to the random capture point so the timer doesn't force you to lose the siege.

Projectiles hitting from the rear have little effect and absurd horse arhcers with flaming arows and javelins. Say what?

This is a small sample of the issues.

RS2 is the best RTW mod out there and i will now have to wait a good deal of time before the CA disaster is made moddestly playable. The framework has potential but even after CA fixes the graphics/textures disaster and the buggs galore and the brutal AI the battles themselves will still be the worst of the entire TW series.

RS2 gods..we will make any sacrifices to your alter. Just name them. Please we are imploring you. Helps us and help Rome and the ancient world. Work your magic once more. We are even willing to sacrifice Greek and Gallic couples if thats what takes Barbaric though we would usualy find it to be. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

That's why I don't buy R2... I expected such things... Maybe it wasn't a good idea that they used the Shogun 2 engine... I don't really like the overall design. It makes no feelings to me. But when I play RS2... I'm soooo happy.

I can pretty much confirm this. After a few thorough R2TW campaigns... I'm looking into downloading Roma Surrectum. What does that tell you?

Exactly.. After nearly one day in R2 with its Starcraft like fast battles with quick clicking instead of tactics and even more stupid AI... I run back to RS2 without any hope for vanila CA games.. Thank you RS2 gods (RS2 team and testers) for bringing us this awesome gemstone

I was going to run out yesterday and buy Rome2, because I had hoped that, at last, here would be a perfect platform for updating RS2 and converting it into a newer engine someday. That may yet be true, I suppose, depending on how co-operative and considerate CA\SEGA are about modding tools and patches...but then I started reading through reviews and player impressions on this site.....

I am really, really disappointed. The greatest disappointment is that people would buy a game that must instantly be patched with a 'what?'...9GB patch!!
OMG, it would take me a week to download that on my crappy internet, and yet you can't even play the game unless you connect to Steam and download their stuff. That is just crap! That's like buying a new book and not being allowed to see anything on the pages until you hook it to Amazon. WTH are these people thinking? But even more troublesome is the idea that this game would get released without any real-world testing to determine whether it was good to do so. I mean, how in the world could it have been tested very well if people have all the problems they do with it?

Our team took a year.....a bloody YEAR to work on a patch! Granted, we aren't being paid, or out to make money, but still. Have some pride in yourselves CA! You produce a game with so much potential, such beautiful graphics and cities....and then you surround it with things that few people wanted or understand. It just shows me that CA just doesn't pay any attention to the places where their game's fans hang out. If you were to make a 'Rome2', wouldn't you be smart to at least study what people liked in the mods for 'Rome1'?

And for Greek fans.....jeez, talk about getting screwed. Why on earth would you release a game like this WITHOUT the Greeks!!?? I'm just stunned and disappointed because I can't even buy this game with its current requirements.

They should've hired the RS team for R2TW, or they should've atleast looked at why this mod is so good and popular and made R2TW a little bit similar. But no, naive as they are.. .

For some obscure reason TWC is not allowing me to give you rep dvk!

But let me write here that I agree 100% with you, an no, also I haven't buy the game, and probably Shogun2 has been the last game for me!
IMO CA is moving the serie towards the Multiplayer, so explained Steam and DLC and all this crap! IMO this is a Total Tragedy no more Total War.

I hate every single feature of Rome2, from the Campaign Map till the unit cards, from graphic issues till the silly gameplay, also I cannot understand why a company has to go against its own interests publishing a game which required at least one more year of hard work to be completed.

What I can say is: Thank you very much dvk and RSII Team, thank you because probably your Mod actually is what Rome2 will never be able to be, that is, a wonderful PC game about Rome and its History. Thanks a lot!

But thanks also to the whole community of Modders on TWC, only watching products on sale for 60€ as Rome2 we can understand how much important is your work for free for us players!

SO YES, THANKS JUPITER, MARS, VENUS, MENERVA AND MITHRAS INVICTUS FOR ROME SURRECTUM 2!!!!!

+Mega-Rep when TWC will let me use their damn Forums!

I have been playing this mod for years, but never actually registred an account on the forums, until now. And I only did this to THANK the development team, seriously, you guys are just constelations ahead of a real company with employees that actually GET PAID (quite handsomely) to do a job, *coughs* Rome 2 *coughs*.

You guys are awesome, wish CA would've hired you back when they were still planning the game. Just imagine... RS2 team and its collaborators with the budget Rome 2 had... Just imagine guys... It brings tears to my manly eyes.

Instead of Jupiter, I think I'll just thank dvk, tone and all the other great modders they work with. RS is my favorite mod. I also blame Sega more for what CA has become. I'm also glad the RS team released RS 2.6 last week, what with the influx of people on the forum it has dragged to 30-60 second page loads for me. Props again.

Thanks to all, and even if our present fan base seems small...what with Rome2 being released....I have decided to press on with even more work on RS2 to improve it.
I know there are things that RS2 will never be able to do as far as Rome2 is concerned, but my feeling is that RS2 will be able to do a lot MORE than Rome2 ever will.
And, even now, we have people testing it and reporting on it for us.....so who knows. Maybe we can wring more out of this old girl yet.

I suppose it's a bit too early to be asking for a "what will be in 2.7" list? I'm deliberating over what campaign to do.

That bad eh? I am patiently waiting for my AmazonUK £25 R2 to ship to our northern shores. While I kept my expectations at bay I did not expect it to be another Empire! But with Fortuna willing, maybe Rome 2 will become playable at some point of time too... Any silver linings? I was actually thinking of a smug way to post a thread here to ask how the seasoned TWR veterans find the game... The R2 forum is too hysterical for any sensible discussions. So, we pretty much know about the Bad and the Ugly. What about the Good, from your point of view and not from a CA fanboy... I mean surely there's something?

If you have 'Aero' enabled, disable it...first of all. Also disable your Anti-virus program when playing RS2, or at least direct the AV to ignore the whole RS2 directory.
If you are using Steam, there are a lot of people on the Forum who can nhelp you. I don't, so I don't know the solution, but there are solutions.

I'm a fan of RS since the 2.0 got live, together with 2.5 I played it well over a year and had a blast, you people pushed the engine beyond anything even CA could even imagine it can be done. I took a break from it a few months ago, then decided to wait for the 2.6 version before playing it again, but since that was released a few days before TWR2 I decided to pass on it for now and just wait for Rome 2.
So I finally got to play TWR2, and there's only one way to describe my feeling towards the game: I literally STRUGGLED to enjoy it. Maybe because I wanted so much that Rome 2 to be an epic sequel to the first game after all these years, but all I know is that after 2 days I downloaded RS 2.6 and I have to say that the feeling this mod gives won't be matched by Rome 2 even after they release 100 patches to fix the crappy beta they sold to their customers.
Playing the first fight against Hannibal again after the Starcraft zerg rush type battles in Rome 2 is just awesome and proves once again eye candy graphics and Michael Bay lens flare effects are just a minor thing in what makes a game great.
When I thought RS will be put to rest as the biggest mod of RTW and will be remembered forever and people will move to Rome 2 I was proven wrong. It's still the biggest mod for RTW but in no case it's gonna die anytime soon.
So if you want brainless battles, shallow and clunky campaign map management, ships flying over the cities but next gen graphics then go play Rome 2. If you want immersive feeling, tactical battles, historical and unbelievable varied units, and in depth campaign map management then get Roma Surrectum and you will never regret it.

A huge thanks for all the people involved in developing and supporting this great mod, your work is much appreciated.
