And I gots to ask...how good does it feel to have a game with 9 to 13 playable factions in a sea of non-playable? XD
I'll get this eventually, like a gold edition or something

Its playable. But the combat seems so fast that I might as well not take the time to load a battle and just auto resolve it at this point. =\
Forward, march!
Same here. After winning my 20th cake-walk victory in a row, it's just not worth it for a battle that's going to be over in less than 4 minutes. (I'm not that good of a player either- I never played S2TW above "Hard.") Rome 2 has some serious battle and campaign AI issues.
Some old chestnuts from the bad AI of the Ghosts of TW Games Past have also returned: the "chicken dance" is back! That's where AI melee units run back and forth while being pelted by the player's missile units. Also, the granddaddy of them all is here: "the suicide daimyo!" with the AI throwing away the life of its general by rushing it ahead of its troops.
Most of those AI generals fell victim to the now super-duper velite units that are not only armed with approximately 30-40 javelins but also have a mysterious ability to light them on fire in all weathers! (I'd really like to talk to the person at CA responsible for that decision just to find out his rationale. I know my mouth would drop open regardless of the answer, but still it'd be fun to know. I'd also like to talk to the person who decided to ditch units cards having such "useless" information as unit strength numbers and morale warning flags which have been part of the TW series since the original STW.)
Sadly, Rome 2 feels like a real step-back from S2TW in terms of both graphics and gameplay. It's a disappointment. I really thought TW series had turned a corner with Shogun 2, but it appears they're back in quality-control land as result of rushed deadlines and overly ambitious ideas. It feels like another "bridge too far" for the TW series ala Empire.
It depends on the person. Only problem I have is my game crashing every once in a while. Thank gosh I spam Ctrl-S every turn.
Dost thou prate, rogue?
Nah, the game is a solid 7, 7.5, 8 depending on the level of fandom...
It's just that CA needs to address some glitches ASAP before it gets worse. This glitches and balance issues are making the gameplay very annoying.
Outside of that, the game is quite good.
It's like a stock, you gotta buy low and sell high. I'm waiting for it to hit 19.99 on steam and then I'm gonna make it big.![]()
It is exactly what I thought it would be. A solid 8 once they sort out some bugs.
Some patches to sort out bugs and optimization and she'll be good i hope....
Eh. At first I was frustrated. However, the community here and at Rome 2 forums helped me fix my problems and now I can play smoothly. Until the next patch. Which I will probably have to start from scratch. All this and I am still using a 9800 GT ... in your face you richies!
Why the game released September 3rd and not closer to the holidays is baffling. Wasn't the original release date around Christmas 2013? They pushed it up a few months--for unknown reasons--and it certainly seems to show.
Any thoughts on the limited factions? Reading about that has really bothered me
Oh, and most important question of all
DOES IT SEEM TO BE MODDABLE?!

Yeah, playable factions of courseTheres supposed to be over 100 nonplayable factions. And you have to pay for every single one...or well, groups of them
Makes me angry as hell to think about. I HATE that
And in case my edit is missed...
Does this seem to be moddable?
There's nothing wrong with the number of factions. They are all very detailed and extremely unique compared to the factions from Rome 1. I would rather have 12 pretty flashed out factions than 100 reskinned factions.
The number of factions is #99 on the list of top #100 things needed to be fixed for this game.
Read that Review. It sums up the situation of Rome 2 quite nicely.

Eh, opinions. Personally I'm for fleshed out factions, BUT I want MORE. Especially smaller ones. I dont want a 100 clone factions by any means, but how about 20 playable factions at the start, and everything else is DLC?
The basic edition of the game is 8 or 9. Thats insulting.
I personally never want to play as major factions in TW games, because they are too chaotic for me, or too...powerful. I always play as the weirdo small faction
Like, if I had Rome 2 with it's DLC, I'd play as the British Celts or the Spartans before I'd play as Rome or Carthage
I mean, valid opinion, but im really angry about DLC and it's crushing of gaming industry
As mentioned above, I bet my arse that Sega will sue anyone that tries to mod in all factions, or the game will prove unmoddable outside of what pathetic parameters that Sega has set
Is it good? Not really. Is it bad however? No not really either. I would just say that this is pretty underwhelming and that feeling really sinks in when you play your first campaign battle. I don't know what's going on..... I feel like I have been deliberately deceived.
Bactrians will be Big 8. "Farther East" means Bactria.
After the Iceni reveal expect the unexpected.
Let's take a look back at previous titles
P.S Stupid link won't work >.<

And NO, my avatar is the coat of arms from the Teutonic Knightly Order because they're awesome.
Ride to Hell: Retribution is terribad.
Big Rigs is terribad.
Aliens: Colonial Marines is terribad.
Rome 2 doesn't live up to the unrealistically high expectations that people set for it, and isn't quite as stable as the previous TW game was at release.
It's enjoyable to play, and will likely become moreso with time and TLC. If you don't feel like dropping 60 bucks, nobody is making you.
