What should be the strong point of a Total War has become the weak point. The battles are so fast that you can't even enjoy the facial animations that they boasted so much about. And for most people, battles (as well as campaign might) are plagued with performance issues. An average battle is a 3-5 minute blobfest, basically. There's little to no room for tactics, and every single unit has special abilities like "the whip" or "draco", only unnecessarily adding to the micromanagement. It's disappointing to say the least.
On the other hand, I think that the campaign is actually pretty good. There could be a bit more provinces (divide current provinces in smaller ones), but that's just because I enjoy more slow, hard-core strategy. Over all, the campaign map is fine, the battles are NOT.
