It's hard to choose only one honestly. I suggest that before voting everyone enable the Rome forum skin if they haven't done so already, so that you can see how it meshes with that theme. Then if you can't decide between a few, see which one you think looks best on the TWC skin, since it'll be the other common one. If you're still stuck, cut your hand and perform a ritual to the Roman goddess Ceres so that your harvest is bountiful. That won't help you decide, but at least you'll have something to eat while you mull it over.

Some of us provided a spoiler with the look of the icons in their own thread ...

I am 100% in favour of Submission #3. It is stylish and yet monumental, just as Rome was. None of the others speak to me, personally (an Architecture - specifically Classical Architecture - student). There is only one exception, but I do not believe it is suitable. May I explain?

The only other serious contender for a strictly Classical badge is #4, but there are several reasons why I want to reject it from an aesthetic viewpoint. Its sense of horror vacui is very pronounced. The Imperial Romans themselves did not favour covering every single inch of a given artistic composition with color. Note their architecture: there are many blank spaces and monumental plaques, but not endless volumes of things plastered in every blank corner. #4 goes too close to the messy Greek ideal, or perhaps the ancient Egyptian, but certainly not the Roman. Look up the Temple of Portunus by the Tiber, the Porticus Aemilia (warehouse), Theatre of Marcellus, Hercules at Cori, or Fortuna Primigenia at Palestrina. They were monumental and detailed, yet not covered in detail. If we are to consider ourselves Forum Romans, we must be consistent and follow the rules of their own civilization: Classical, not Neo-classical (a very big difference). Remember Vitruvius' 5 most important rules for Architecture: Firmitas, Utilitas, Venustas, Cogitatio, et Inventio.

I believe all the entries except #3 go towards modernist Neoclassical Grecian imitation, rather than authentic Classicism - but #3 lives up to all of Pollio's requirements perfectly. Let us follow Antiquity, not the Antiquarians.

So few voters? Maybe you should make a new announcement, change the current one's title or something?

Only citizens shoudl vote , but perhaps that number is due to the extreme lag of the forums those days .

I nearly didn't saw it. Maybe you should do an announcement in the rome 2 general discussion again StealthFox.

And it is good that everyone can vote. If this is a layout only citizens can see than it would be okey to exclude the majority, but since it is for all the people here...

No its not good that every one can vote actually , there are a lot of spam accounts, trolls, multiple accounts and fake ones that could vote on the poll thus making it invalid and useless and in the end the badges are only for citizens and staff members so I do not see why other non citizens should vote , and this is the condition under wich I submitted my entry , or I did understood wrong?

I think you need a certain number of posts and a week of membership to vote in these? I doubt the mods would not notice if there was some obvious spam and troll accounts on TWC.I actually like almost all of these and will +rep all the participants once they are revealed after the voting. It's very close between 1, 3, 9, and 11 for the best submission. I will probably decide and vote shortly.Very high quality submissions from all the participants, however. Good luck to all.
Rep me and I'll rep you back.

#3 doesn't contrast well with the forum skin in my opinion, but whatever....
I think number 11 is the best, and goes with the Rome II skin very well.

    Good luck too all!

I think the site slowness is seriously affecting people logging onto the site. I had originally intended for this poll to last week, but I'll prob let it go a few more days, maybe until this Wednesday. I'd like as many people to vote as possible. If anyone tries anything tricky like what Prom was saying, they'll get caught. They can't hide from me.
