Default Anyone finding the Very Hard Battle Setting...well...very hard?

In five custom battles I am one for four. Lost all 3 playing the Romans and one playing my purple Parthians. The only one I won was playing Sparta. The Romans have the handicap of not using their pilums defensively so that does not help.

It is not that the AI is better. They just Usain Bolt across 5000 yards and smash into my lines. My forces melt as I have no time to adjust plus their morale is nonexistent.

I never lost this badly, this consistently, before in any TW game

The ability to throw pillums without attacking was indeed a very useful feature in Rome. No idea why they took it out in Rome 2. As for the very hard battle setting, it is almost impossible to break enemy units in a head on battle at that setting. Only thing that works is hitting their flanks with to break their moral. t makes me curious though, what kinda bonuses the AI gets at hard and very hard difficulty. Does anyone know?

At Very Hard, each soldier in the AI's army is allowed to take a small sip from Chuck Norris' own favorite mug, granting them superhuman strength and endurance.

To bad if the AI has infinite morale at VH settings cause H for both the CAI and the BAI is a joke.

Be careful especially on campaign in the early game because fatigue kills the morale of your already terrible moraled starting units. As well, I played Averni for example and their shield wall/ defensive stance with the levies act like guard mode in other TW games, giving a stat bonus as well as resisting fatigue.

My strat on campaign at least is make the enemy engage me with my shield ability in the centre and rap the flanks with reserves and my general. 9 times out of 10 I win the engagement with lower stat infantry in my main centre against tougher infantry. Haven't face Rome yet, but cav will be my answer.

Hope it helps, walk units and use their defensive abilities.
