    Default Experience for AI Troops??

Hey guys, as we can see AI troops have more experience in 2.6. I just want to know why it was necessary to do it? Does the AI not retrain their troops? In Alexander.exe they do retrain. Or does the AI still not enough retraining so this increase was needed to have a balanced and challenging gameplay? Thanks for answer

Basically for more challenging gameplay, and the fact not everyone uses the Alex AI, and the AI doesn't retrain enough.

The AI retrains in BI....for us it was just a question of figuring out the cost formula that encouraged this. However, despite this....most players will win most battles and therefore get more experienced troops as many AI units will be killed off and the player also has the sense generally to train up all their units to the max before embarking on a new conquest. The AI will othrwise send raw troops to battle without thinking to send them to the capital city to get further bonuses.

Exp fo AI is good thing. For player it's very easy to aquire high exp levels if you use autoresolve even sometime (I call it "exp out of nothing" - RTW engine's fault...). For this reason, in my 1-turn campaign I set a house rule - not to retrain veteran (experienced units). I rather merge depleted units to full strength and in free slots I put fresh recruits.

Thanks! I understand now this is a good decision and especially is good for the later game. But what about the beginning?! Isn't a bit unbalanced when the AI can recruit experienced troops at round 1 and the player first when he build the buildings for that to achieve the same experience level??

Even early on, the player can get their units retrained in the capital where they can generally pick up some experience.....besides which it keeps you more on the edge of your seat.....hopefully you might even feel like you could get wiped out!

And it gets very challenging when you throw you newly trained and less experienced reform legions against those more experienced AI armies. It really makes you miss your Polybians.
