Default Rome 2 crashes on splash screen! Any help?

So yeah as the title says - the game crashes on the very first screen, almost instanly. I get the box saying "total war: rome 2 has stopped working"

    Can anyone help me out?

p.s. I have tried veifying the integrity of the game cache

p.p.s. I meet all the minimum specs.

I'd take the question to tech support up above the stickies. The first thing you'll asked for is your dxdiag ,type or paste that term in your run box. That will get you a notepad file save of the info. Add that as an attachment to your thread.
Proculus: Divine Caesar, PLEASE! What have I done? Why am I here?
    Caligula: Treason!
Proculus: Treason? I have always been loyal to you!
Caligula: [laughs insanely] That IS your treason! You're an honest man, Proculus, which means a bad Roman! Therefore, you are a traitor! Logical, hmm? Ha, ha, ha!

    Hello willh90,

I had this problem as well and resolved it by doing the following.

I backed up my saved games which is located in the folder called 'The Creative Assembly' in Computer/C:drive/users/username/AppData/Roaming, then deleted this folder, restarted the game, quit and then put the backed up saved games in the newly re-created 'The Creative Assembly' folder.

If you haven't already done so you will need to make hidden folders visible, this can be done in Win7 by going into Control panel>Appearance and Personalization>Folder options>show hidden folders.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers,
