Now that my quest for rap is over (although I've yet to get everything reccomended because of school) I'm looking into a musical genre I've always loved: 20s and 30s jazz.
And while I love it, I know very few musicians and bands from the era, so again I need you to reccomend some.

Benny Goodman aka 'The King of Swing' for starters. He was absolutely amazing. His family fled Russia when the Soviets were taking over. I don't know what his ACTUAL name was but 'Benny Goodman' is his 'Americanized' name.

Duke Ellington, for starters. Buddy Rich has also assembled some nice swing bands; a third would be Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie; lastly, Count Bassie.

Swing is the most popular version of jazz; for my tastes I prefer the material after the 40s till now in jazz.
