Hey guys.
My system is currently only fielding 1 of its 8GB RAM sticks, because when I was unable to actually power up the system it with both sticks in(a total of 16GB RAM) due to it consuming too much power and not letting it start the system. I want to add my second stick of RAM; but I have a few questions;
- Mainly, how do I know how much voltage/power I'll need?
- Is there an automated option that'll simply allow me to add the second stick without having to fiddle with the power in the first place?
- And to adjust the power, is it simply to visit the BIOS and manually adjust it there?
I have a 850 power unit, so I believe it is more than adequate, and will be able to provide as much juice as I could ever possibly need(provided I have the right settings).
Also, I am planning to OC this computer.
Before I do that however, I want to know if there is a program out there that will allow me to view the CPU/Mobo temps(because I don't want to damage my hardware) while simultaneously allowing me to adjust the workload of the CPU directly from the desktop without having to adjust my settings in the BIOS, thus avoiding a full reboot. On my old build, I had a program called AI Suite 2 which allowed me to do just that; monitor the CPU/Mobo temp while adjusting fan speed and CPU load.
I never really used the program much(in my new build, it stopped working so I uninstalled it), and so I am wondering about what you guys know about this program, if there exist other similar programs, or if such programs are just a bad idea for OC in the first place.
Thanks in advance for any computer wisdom you can share on this matter. Tips and things not to do are also welcome![]()
