Having always been playing the Platinum version since 2007, I am curious what the Gold edition has that Platinum doesn't. The DL size is an extra 600MB. On the surface they don't seem to be much different.

Gold is the last official version of the RTR 6 team build for RTW 1.2 (pre-BI). Platinum is originally RTR 6 Gold made playable with RTW 1.5 and BI 1.5 engine. There's not much changes originally except some few bug fixes.

However, RTR 6.0 and 6.1 have some different versions of units that are worth looking into. Also, I remember seeing previews of units for the first release of 6.0 but I do not believe they were ever released.

I'd recommend RTR VII and the Extended Realism 3.5.3 and 4.0 sub mods
