I am not a professional Historian. However, studying History has been a hobby for me for the past 12 years, therefore I believe that I am very well versed in ancient cultures, specifically: Latins, Greeks, Iberians, North Africans. I am also well versed in ancient warfare, tactics, logistics and reforms. I also have some ideias concerning a new method of recruitment, which if it is possible to achieve through modding, then it would become a revolutionary step towards Realism. Among many other ideias that I have. Greeks also used Auxilia (example: the 300 Spartiates at thermopilae with the 700 Thespian "Vothikoi" and the 400 Theban "Vothikoi", where "Vothikoi" means "auxilia/auxiliary" in Greek). If you could assemble more historians to cover other cultures, where I am not as well versed (such as barbarians, nomads, easterners, etc), and some linguists, then I believe that we could achieve something Epic!
Cheers,
TSBH
Thanks limes! Glad to see AEE is alive and kicking![]()
An early build of the mod is out there on the internet for a limited time. This build will probably not compatible with upcoming Patch 9.![]()

Glad to see a proper realism mod beginning!
My main query is this: does RTR2 contain properly sized empires? Are the Seleucids a massive state stretching deep into Iran? Do the Ptolemies rule over southern Anatolia? Etc etc.
I liked the idea of satrapies in the main game, but ultimately they felt badly handled to me!
in the long run? yes, you will see that. Initial version? most likely will focus on things that can be changed right now. more will come later.
As JaM said, the early release wont be as extensive as RTR VII or even RTR 6 series. More like RTR 2.0 (or RTR 5.41 if we're adventurous enough). The previously constant patching (not that it's a bad thing though) from CA actually stops us from an earlier release though.

In my humble opinion my personal suggestion as a mod player, and an old modder (although I only made personal mods till yet), would be to proceed with a one-by-one approach. First full release would contain few features, the second release adding a few more tweaks and features, while fixing the problems with previous version. Then the third version tweaking the system more while adding a few more possible features/units. That way, it would not create many problems, while steady additions mean a good track of the record. Adding little by little is good for mods, and especially because patience in players is a good thing, and waiting for proper release means far high quality. In time, it will turn into the gem it is supposed to be, without any problems.
But of course, these are my two cents. You guys know the best.
Though I think CA is going to add a few more patches. And the way they are tweaking and changing the files, I suppose it is going to be a kind of rework with every patch.
By the way, are you guys going to add/remove any factions for historical and realism purpose? Etruscans, for example...
सार्वभौम सम्राट चत्रवर्ती - भारतवर्ष
स्वर्गपुत्र पीतसम्राट - चीन
महाराजानाभ्याम महाराजा - पारसिक
I know, but redoing a lot of things every time the game is patched is tiring.![]()

reworking files every time patch is out is tiresome. Yet, some patches are worth the work. for example last Patch9 beta brings long waited fixes to battle mechanics that i was working on since day 1,yet now, i dont need to use any workarounds because base game has this fixed. Sometimes its even better option to just not transfer all things between versions as some might be done better between patches than they were in the past.. but of course this slows the work down considerably.
That is one of the main reasons we are still looking for help, so if there is anybody out there willing to work on R2TR, please let us know.
Hey guys, i'm looking forward to this mod coming out, do you chaps have a website?
For now, just this: https://www.facebook.com/Rome2TotalRealism
Many things have changed since the beginning. Please follow new discussions here.
