Maximum number of soldiers per battle

which is the maximum number of soldiers that you could have in this game (BI)?
Must i moderate any file so i can use as many as i want?
Sorry guys, but its my first time in Rome BI.

I think hardcoded limit is 300, but depending on your system, you should use less. I use 250 as max.

300? Are you kidding? That's like 2 batallions on huge.

I don't there there is a maximum hard-coded number, but you can only go as far as 8x4801 (highest possible).

Of course there will be the limit of your computer, and reinforcements won't show up if it goes over unless everyone else dies off?

The limit is the same as RTW, a max of 8 armys comprising of 19 units of 243 men plus one unit of 234 per army.
Therefore 38,888 is the total number of soldiers available on a RTW/BI battlefield.

I had 16000 on IBFD when the whole Vandal horde (11000 man) besieges the city of Toletum with a 5000 garrisson.
This Is on huge.
It was so goddammit slow even on the lowest settings that I quit after making 3400 casualties In the town square.
