    Default Kelto-Hellenic Smackdown

Playing as the Arverni or Aedui, the late game often takes me to Asia as some jerk Successor State inevitably starts a war with me for no good reason. While my initial force easily ransacks its way through Asia Minor, mounting casualties eventually necessitate merc recruitment to keep up with the endless hordes of the Grey/Yellow Death. This creates a strange new hybrid, with Celtic troops supporting mercenary phalanx infantry in a new plaid take on the old hammer and anvil. This begs the question, why not allow some low tier pike phalanx troops to be recruited as regional units? You might say "historically, the Celts never used this formation". That's true, but they also never conquered the whole of Europe or recruited Scythian horse archers, yet, my game says otherwise. In a game where the pike phalanx is arguably OP and the Macedonian system is so effective, why not allow other factions to bastardize it?

I agree, EB has always been about "what if" scenarios, however, the devs have not updated EB for a long time and I don't think they plan to. That being said there's no reason why you can't edit your own game to allow pike unit recruitment for the celts, it's not that hard, head over to the tutorials section to learn how if you don't already know. Good luck
“The hardest thing in the world is to assume the mood of a warrior. It is of no use to be sad and complain and feel justified in doing so, believing that someone is always doing something to us. Nobody is doing anything to anybody, much less to a warrior.” ― Don Juan
"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag." -- Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I actually did not know that. I've heard of people adjusting stats to nerf pikes or buff the notoriously underpowered Pontic Thorakitai, but changing actual recruitment is new to me. Hell, if that's the case, I'll allow for Neitos recruitment the world over. If the Roman Empire could raise Legions everywhere, why not my Gallic Empire? Thanks for the advice!

This reminds me of wanting to have access to higher government types for certain cultures. All modable, I guess.
