Just a question to see what dedicated EB players will be doing on the day of the release of R2TW.
I will be playing EB, because I ordered a physical copy so I will have to wait a week or two before I will be playing.
Playing R2TW
Working, because its a weekday
Having a social life

Swords don't kill people, people with swords kill people.
I'll be working then playing eb, as a middle finger to the the "EB2 is redundant" crowd.
If I had a PC that could run it, I'd probably play Rome 2, fight a battle or two, decide it sucked and I didn't like it, and go back to EB.
playing EB of courseR2TW looks like some bs block buster, while EB is an old gem always worth of playing.
I'm drinking wine and eating cheese, and catching some rays, you know
Well--played a few hours of Rome 2--then back to EB. Although the new game has some potential, right now it has a long ways to go.
EB of Rome the First has much life left to it. I just hope the EB mod crew is looking at the new game and letting the wheels start rolling...
My laptop is unable to run fine R2TW also this is a waste of money so playing EB is the best decision.![]()
The required PC specs are not that high at all. Some of the videos of the game are a bit misleading. There is a function in battles of "cinematic view" which gives a movie like view, but all you can do is watch--to give orders you have to go back to a normal view. There is also a 2d battle map view that can be used. The overall graphics are not all superior (but there are deer wondering around the battlefield). The huge problem right now is compatibility with Nvidia cards and AM cpu's. The game is in need of emergency patches...
EB is superior in most every way at the moment. Rome 2 has great potential though. I would bet that within a year Rome 2 (with a mod) will be one of the best games ever made.

As long as modders can do something about the dreadful AI, then I have no doubt mods will improve it immensely. From the very beginning the only thing I've wanted out of it is that it actually be moddable. But that's how it's always been with Total War games. CA makes a decent game, but it has a lot of flaws and could be improved a lot. So modders get a hold of it and put in all the effort that CA either didn't want to or weren't able to.
CA's engines always have potential. I just hope they make it moddable enough for modders to make amazing mods out of it. If people are still playing Rome 2 mods for even half as long as they've been playing Rome 1 mods, then CA have been successful IMO.
