Quick question about building my PC

With my processor arriving today and my GPU arriving tomorrow. I wanted to ask when I come to build it and I put the CPU in the mobo, I have purchased the cooler master hyper 212 evo. Can I simply put the CPU in and the aftermarket heatsink on top or would I need to add thermal paste still?

OK so I've built it. And the components are:
Sapphire HD Radeon 7870 2 GB
Crucial BallistiX DDR3 2X4GB
FX6300 6-CORE
CORSAIR 300R
SEASONIC 520W
M5A99X EVO R2.0

And I can't get it to POST, the DRAM_led is a solid red. I've tried the RAM individually but still no good. I tried the MEMOK! on the mobo but didn't fix it. I don't get any video either so I can't access the BIOS.

Any ideas?

what do you mean by post? and have you tried to use the old gpu?

Fixed it now, RAM wasn't seated properly.....
