Default If you're buying a physical copy from Gamestop (INFO)

    Hey guys,

If you are like me and want a physical copy but want it ASAP you're probably buying it from a local Gamestop.

Unfortunately not alot of people have heard of Rome II still in the world of gaming so the chances of a midnight release at your local Gamestop won't be happening and you'll be forced to wait til whenever they open again (here it's 10am)

I was considering buying from a local Walmart but I decided to call Gamestop to double check on a possible midnight release (and luckily i did)

The Gamestop shop owner told me even though there probably wouldn't be a midnight release for Rome 2 he did mention Diablo 3 for PS3 will probably have a huge turn out and there will be a midnight release for it and was told any other games scheduled to release the 3rd could be picked up as well (ROME 2 !!!)

So if you're on the fence still on whether to pre-order a physical copy or not make sure you check your town for a Gamestop and ask them if there will be a midnight release for Rome 2 or Diablo 3 and whether or not you can pick your copy of Rome 2 up at the release

Man, you reminded me of the days of the Me2tw launch and how I would stare at the brick of a manual while it was downloading.

I'm about to sell my entire collection of x-box and pc disks on e-bay or bike 6.6 miles to gamestop including Rome I, Black and White 2, Pharoah, Zeus Master of Olympus and such classics. Old relics of a forgotten time that do not acquire price with age.

You and I are on intersecting paths in opposite directions.

I went into a Gamestop once.

I asked where the PC games were, and the clerk behind the counter stared at me for a second before he started screaming. Then he pushed a button behind the counter, which must have opened some sort of trap door, because he fell out of sight. I could still hear him screaming, though. He didn't stop the whole time I was there.

After a minute or so, another person, wearing what looked like one of those self-contained biohazard suits you see in alien movies and disease disaster films came out from the back and instructed me to follow them. I was then monitored constantly as I perused the single rack of PC games at the very back of the shop, which they kept near the used Atari 2600 ET games and radioactive waste barrels.

I was sad to discovery that they apparently have a policy of never lowering the price of any game below 39.99, so I left.

    Is that story true?
    The whole 39.99 thing?

Back in the days when I didn't know any better, I would find ~5 year old games "on sale" at Gamestop for 39.99. Used.

Can someone explain that to me? Isnt it logical that you cant buy a game in a local shop in the night? What means that thingy: "any other game scheduled to release.....".
Rome 2 will be unlocked in the evening of Sep 3rd...right? Was that gamestop owner implying the game will be unlocked before the evening? I dont get it....sorry.

I also buy at a gamestop. Because I love the physical product, the book, and propably a small map. It only costs me +5€ more then a Download without DLC. I bought it including the DLC so thats a good deal for €40.

The game isn't released until midnight. Rome 2 isn't a giant game like your Call of Duties or your Diablo 3s, so it doesn't generally get a midnight opening for its release. An expansion for Diablo 3 is releasing at the same time, however, so you'll beable to pick up Rome 2 also (if your local store is doing that.)

I live down the street from a GameStop and I'm going to call them tomorrow to see if they can do the same. I live on the west coast of the USA, do you think I'd be able to play if I got it at midnight?

You should be able to pre-download the game just like the Steam users but as far as playing it right at midnight there's no solid confirmation when we can play it.

This is mainly a good option if you want a physical copy but also wanna pre-download the game to get some playtime in before classes or just wanna play it ASAP like the steam users.

I should point out alot of people are getting there collector's edition now so Gamestop retailers should be getting their stock in sometime this week if not already

    This is what I mean

This is mainly just a good option if you're one of the few that prefers physical over steam but wants the game downloaded and ready to go when the game unlocks. Yes I'm pretty sure you will be able to pre-install the game similar to the steam pre-download option.

As far as playing it I'm pretty sure the game doesn't unlock until 10am GMT but we'll have to wait and see a bit closer to release to confirm this. A lot of people are saying past games like Shogun 2 were available at midnight of release so we'll see
