Default Game crashes on opening enemy settlements (slightly different to the thread above)

This has happened twice now. Yesterday I awoke after playing a lot of the game the night before and whenever I performed an action as simple as opening an opposing
faction's settlement scroll it would crash with the classic "unspecified error" message. I assumed... I don't know what I assumed but I deleted that campaign regardless (playing as the Silvan Elves) and sure enough the same thing happened again. For some reason it enjoys messing up over night...
I'm a bit of a noob at this stuff and fairly new the third age, though I am a veteran player of total war. I scoured the internet for solutions and have already attempted
the daylight setting solution before realising that this was not quite the solution to my problem.

    1: Windows XP

2: It is the steam version

3: I don't think I have the installers.. However on another thread somewhere I do believe it said they are not required for XP. (I installed TATW with the help of several youtube videos)

4: Works perfectly fine. Apart from an error message that comes up alot saying (unable to connect to servers) or something like that. This then closes the launcher however the game will run fine after that.

5: I have no submods installed.

I like this mod alot and was hoping this could be fixed ASAP. Thanks for reading.

My apologise. I did use all the correct installers.

What are your system specifications ( CPU ( and ? GHz ), amount of RAM, GPU and ? MB/GB ) ?

2GB of Ram, 3.11 GHz, ADM athlon X2 255 processor, 2064MB and my graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT.

Unfortunately my computer is getting slightly old however I hoped that this was not a problem when I downloaded the mod having the vanilla Medevil II work perfectly.
I would also like to add that when I start a new campaign (I just started one as dale to test this out), this problem did not occur however I loaded my Silvan Elves campaign again and
it continued. Thanks for taking time out of your day to help

Unfortunately, your computer could be wrong here:
Your CPU is AMD, and AMDs don`t work well with Total War titles, they are actually so beaten by Intel that is funny..

2 GB of RAM won`t help you with TATW, cause this submod is more resource demanding than M2TW, and 2GB of RAM are used at the same time by: the game itself, Windows services, background processes etc.. It is not enough.

Your GPU ain`t bad, Total War titles like Nvidia cards, only, if it is 512 MB version, then, it can cause crashes from time to time, cause, as I said, TATW is more resource demanding than M2TW.

I sound like an ass ,do I ? At least I am telling you the truth about your current system and how will it work with TATW.

Are you perhapse thinking about upgrading? You can ask for help here in the Basement ( LINK ), or, fill a Wish List ( LINK ) for your future PC and see what can guys from the Basement configure for you and your wallet.

We can give you few links which could help you with performance, but, don`t expect miracles.

FPS Booster, Large Adress Aware Patch, explained here.

Alright thanks. I am actually going to be running into some money soon that I have no Idea what do to with. Since Total war is like my favourite series ever as well as a lot of other
TBS/RTS games. I might be able to upgrade the system a little after all. Are there any specifics that the game likes to run off ? If so, could I have some recommendations ?
    Thanks

I gave you the link above to fill up a Wish List, you can say there what you need the PC for ( for Total War games). You can't go wrong with Intel as CPU, Nvidia as GPU, Windows 7 64 bit version at least so you can install and USE more than 4 GB of RAM, other parts can be recommended by the guys in The Basement ( watch out for Bolonsky and Crazyeyesreaper, those two will give you good advices, totalheadache is good adviser too, karamazovnm is good for laptop recommendations ).

Oh btw.... When I said "crash" in this thread I did mean that is showed me the message "unspecified error etc..." Because I have still been searching around and it seems that this
error message is never to do with someone system requirements. If this is true and you have miss interoperated my ask for help as a result then derp on my part.

M2TW alone can use 2 GB of RAM, and TATW is even more resource demanding game.. You could be experiencing lack of memory, cause, as I said, while you play TATW, there are also background processes and services which use RAM and your CPU. And you have only 2 GB of RAM. Any chance you can upgrade your RAM to 4 GB?
