I have been gaming over the past 9 years or so and ive come across a lot of companies, games, seen interesting developments, but ive only had internet about 4 years ago to today, and in these recent years ive started exploring gaming more.
So let me tell you a few things that i know are true about some companies:
This is already shelved and done with but theres no "cut content" in a game, in some cases there is but CA is a good company, so heres how it works (from what little i know) with good companies, each DLC or Project has its own Manpower and budget assigned to it, this is usually done so that people that had done their job already or were unnassigned produced something good and profitable for the players, its seperate project from the main game development.
Worst case scenario is a bad publisher, someone who assigns too little time on the developing team to start on a game and finish it, this is, in my opinion, part of the reason why Dragon Age 2 paled in comparison to its predecessor, there have also been some cases recently that the publisher tells the company to cut content from the game in order to sell it as a pre-order bonus or day 1 dlc, but many cases like this dont exist. But SEGA isnt one of those publishers.
SEGA recently has been leaning onto its more successful franchises such as the Total War more due to the financial crisis, so you can expect great things from CA in the future unless something goes wrong. There have been cases like that in CA history but the developers moved on and recently things have been going well, Shogun 2 is an excellent game even if it has its twists and flaws, but thats what every game has.
From my understanding SEGA isnt lax about things, but they arent too restrictive either, they are middle-of-the-road from my expirience.
All i can say is, have faith in CA, they wont underperform, their history proves that, they dont have a bad publisher.
The bad side of the coin is, that a company isnt all flowers and rainbows, they need to make money too, thats one of the points in making a large company anyway, but CA and SEGA arent one of the bad companies - thats what i personally believe.
I hope i convinced some people and that im not too wrong about things.
Peace out.
