Default Mouse stuck in free-look after battle ends, no cursor

I've been playing a campaign as Dwarves and use a Logitech mouse with two thumb buttons. Button 4 lets me go into free look mode, just as Shift + ` does in RTS camera mode or Shift + Insert I believe in Total War camera. I use this frequently as opposed to Q and E to look around.

I had a battle vs. Gundabad supporting my Eriador allies near Anumminas. When the orcs all routed, I had Mouse Button 4 held down and was free-looking. At the screen giving me the option of "End Battle" or "Continue" I had no cursor and instead when I moved the mouse it would merely rotate the camera, leaving me stuck and unable to click on anything. I let all the orcs flee off the map and let the timer run down. Tried every button on my keyboard and mouse. The game kept running at full FPS and my guys continued to animate, but I let 10 minutes at 6X speed after the hourglass emptied go by before I had to shut down the game and restart because I could not click on anything or get out of free-look mode.

Has anyone experienced this in Third Age or Medieval 2 in general? Moreover, anyone know of a way to end the battle from the console or fix this particular issue? Any help is appreciated.

Is it a USB Mouse? If it is, go to Control Panel> Power Options> The Power Plan which you use> Advanced settings> USB Settings > and Disable Selective USB Suspend option. Apply and OK. Restart your PC.
American, French, Israeli and British government's ILLEGAL aggression against the Syrian people, without any proof for chemical attacks in Douma, and without waiting for OPCW to conduct their investigation..
Sons of *******, leave that poor, war torn country in peace.
If you are a citizen of one of these countries, then DO NOT ask any help from me on these forums, since, in protest against this aggression by your governments, I do not provide assistance/help anymore.
Let Syria be finally in peace.

Thank you for the quick response.

I confirmed that Selective Suspend was disabled. I can't remember why I already had that done, but something in the past had already lead me in that direction.

I am not sure that it is the right kind of solution for this problem. To clarify, my mouse still seems to function correctly with the exception that Mouse Button 4 acts like it is held down after I get the option to end the battle. This hides my cursor and keeps me stuck in free-look. Alt-tabbing permits me to use Windows normally but TW M2 stays stuck.
