How many people have been creeping the forums every day for news on our beloved title since it was announced? I know I did![]()
Since the start of the faction announcements.
I am usually on the forums daily, but I occasionally check the Rome 2 section for news updates from CA or other members.
I joined in 2008 for R2tw, so, I guess I beat you all
jk, I don't check that much actually, only 2 times an hour.
I had not been paying much attention to TWC for a long time given the recent releases which failed to hold my interest from NTW to Shogun 2 and it's expansions I really had drifted away from the forum, and usually only came around once or a month (if that). I don't recall exactly when I heard R2TW was coming out - I'm not sure I was even here on the day of the announcement. In any case, I didn't come here for news all that much since I didn't expect there to be much and indeed there wasn't for quite a while; it was only when the faction reveals started that I really began to invest more time into reading up on the game. Guess I wasn't alone in that decision either.

Not me. I hadn't been this apathetic toward a Total War game since Napoleon, and I've been a fan of the series ever since getting a demo disc for Shogun in PC Gamer. My basic sentiment was "great, another sequel--how many decades will it take before we see a NEW setting?"
But CA gradually won me over to the game due to the large number of gameplay additions and improvements, many of which I've felt have been needed in the series as far back as Medieval 2. The new tactical battle view, provinces divided into regions, naval units and land units in the same battles, etc.
(In fact, they're doing so much right with Rome 2 it kind of makes me pissed off at CA for doing so many things wrong--for half-assing so many things--in Shogun 2).
And now they're talking about modding and I'm hoping, for the first time since Medieval 2, we'll actually get a properly modable strategy map.
"What is the most cowardly and shameful thing in human conduct? It's when people with power, and those who flatter them, hide in safe places and extol war--people who force patriotism and self-sacrifice on others, sending them to the battlefield to die. For the sake of peace in the universe, before we continue this fruitless war... mustn't we first start by exterminating such evil parasites?"

Once in a while because I'm not a huge geek.
I still remember my reaction when it was announced, never had jimmies been rustled so badly
How far will I go for Rome? At least to the end of the street, I hate walking
