The ship put into the harbour on Naxos after an uneventful journey, for which Pietro was thankful. He had much work to be about for both the Empire and his Patriarch here. Firstly he was to scout the number of men available to the local Venetian Lord, Emanuele Grosini, should the worst come to the worst. His second task was to find a suitably corrupt captain in the Grosini's guard. If the Patriarch and Count Soranzo's plan failed, this soldier would become the backup. His third task was to find out just how invested the Venetian's were in this place. If the Lord changed suddenly, what exactly would the Venetians do? Pietro sighed, as he stepped up onto the quay. He had a lot to do. 'And God's work is never done.' He thinks wryly as he strides into the town.
