Icon10 Only One Week Until Release!!!

Just think, in a couple days it will be only one week until the game is released and we can all play it!

It felt like yesterday when they announced the next game in the series would be Rome 2.

    Available: September 3rd, 2013

This game will unlock in approximately 1 week, 2 days and 12 hours

It's pretty awesome. I remember playing Shogun 2 hoping that Rome 2 would be the next because it would be perfect to put the ancient world in S2's engine. The wait seemed to fly by since its reveal.

I'm not too sure. Medieval 3 after release rome 2 and shogun 2 would be three remakes in a row.

Given that Sega obtained the Warhammer license in the series of buyouts that followed THQ's liquidating, and the fact that CA have confirmed they are working on some sort of Warhammer universe project, its safe to assume that if the current project is not - then an eventual one will be a Total War game set in the Warhammer universe.

The setting lends itself particularly well to the format, with a plethora of factions to boot. It is also telling that Games Workshop are keen to eventually disassociate themselves from, generally speaking, somewhat mediocre benchmarks in their gaming endeavors - pinning their franchise to another which is staple in the genre, coupled with the backing of the publishing power of Sega, would be a very wise decision.

It doesn't sit well with me that if that were the case we could be waiting maybe another 4-5 years before we see a more traditional entrant to the Total War series, but it does sit with me that we'll finally get to see a well executed Warhammer game in the format.

....Lol. I know this is your opinion and all but the whole space marines part cracked me up. You do realize that you're referring to Warhammer 40k, and if the next Total War game does happen to be a Warhammer universe one, the non-40k universe would be a way better fit for this type of game.

That being said I totally understand your thought about history and authenticity being a component. But, we have a lot of Total War games like that. I'd love to see an authentic in terms of Warhammer lore Total War game. It would be incredibly fun. I understand how something like this is not for everybody, though.

There are no Space Marines in Warhammer, only in Warhammer 40k. Which CA dosn't have the license for, only Warhammer fantasy. Also, Warhammer would be a perfect match for TW. It has alot of interesting, unique factions. Is about politics, religion and war. It has tons of lore and history, many books and such. And it would give CA a much needed break, from all the historical accuracy threads

If a warhammer game is made, then it will be a long time before they make Medieval 3. As much as I'd love to see a warhammer game, I'd still prefer Medieval 3. But they're set in the same "time-period" so they would probably go for another more modern game after that. And remember, Arena will be next, so it's all a long time away!

    Oh gawd so true.

CA might have two teams. One for Total War, the other for the Warhammer licence. I kinda want to see them take another stab at Empire...

I would be really happy if the next TW was in the Warhammer Fantasy universe. It's more suited for a TW game than 40,000 in my opinion, with the medeival setting and all.

I would hate this. I hate fantasy games, of any kind. This is why TW is special to me.

I cannot wait!! In fact I am so excited, I haven't pre-ordered anything yet because I don't know what to doooooooo!

However, I am not as pumped as I was for Rome back in 2004. My most anticipated game ever easily for me.

Even though I'd like CA to stick to the more historical TW series, I don't mind buying and thoroughly enjoying a CA-produced Warhammer universe. I've played most Dawn of Wars and I can say, a TW-style Dawn of War would be pretty enticing indeed.
